The Solid Waste Authority of Broward County is asking Broward County residents to complete a brief survey about how they handle garbage and recycling at home. The feedback will help the Authority improve recycling programs and create a Solid Waste Management and Recycling Master Plan.

“The most recent waste composition and generation studies revealed that approximately 32% of items currently in our local waste stream can be recycled,” said Todd Storti, Executive Director of the Solid Waste Authority of Broward County. “Now, we are asking residents across Broward County to take this brief survey so we can learn more about their waste management practices, recycling habits, and preferences.”

The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Creole until December 31, 2024. Links are available at browardswa.org/surveys or:
In addition to the resident survey, a survey will soon be available for business owners to share their thoughts on commercial garbage and recycling collection services. The Authority will also host focus groups in early 2025 for additional input from residents. The results will help fuel public outreach and educational campaigns about how to recycle right as well as recommendations for the Authority’s 40-Year Solid Waste Management and Recycling Master Plan. The Master Plan will guide the future collection, processing, and disposal of garbage and recycling in Broward County.

The Solid Waste Authority of Broward County is comprised of leaders from Broward County and 28 participating cities. To learn more about the Authority, please visit browardswa.org.
