Serena Williams & Olympia Appears on Stuart Weitzman's Spring 2021 Ad Campaign

Stuart Weitzman global ambassador Serena Williams returns to star in the Spring 2021 Campaign Footsteps to Follow — and this time, she’s joined by a very special guest, 3-year-old daughter Alexis “Olympia” Ohanian Jr. It is the mother-daughter duo’s first-ever fashion campaign together. The campaign features the superstar athlete wearing new high-fashion, high-function footwear essentials designed to shine in the modern woman’s perfectly-curated wardrobe.

The Footsteps to Follow campaign’s captivating imagery and film are concepted to encourage its viewers to consider the ways in which generations inspire each other — be it parents to children or vice versa — to step into each other’s shoes and step into new worlds. “Being on set with Olympia to shoot this campaign meant so much to me, and it is a moment together I will never forget,” says Serena Williams. “She is Mini Serena; she’s so cute and she’s so fun. Waking up every day to see her so happy to see me is a feeling I never thought I would experience. While I try to teach her how to be a positive influence, she in fact teaches me how to be a stronger person every day. It’s the best part about being a mom.”

The Spring 2021 Campaign features the artfully and precisely-constructed LYLA 75 sandal with a toe ring detail and sculptural mid heel and the square-toe LYLA FLAT slide, designed with a toe ring detail and cushioned ultraflat sole. Meanwhile, luxe lug soles bring a high-function dimension to casual and comfortable silhouettes, like the NORAH bootie, a twist on the classic Chelsea boot; the GALA LIFT GLADIATOR sandal, a new iteration of the brand’s iconic gladiator sandal design; and the minimal and impactful ROZA LIFT slide.

“I created this collection with an intentional, artful approach to design, engineering and craftsmanship,” says SW Global Head of Design Edmundo Castillo. “The styles offer a renewed and emboldened sense of functionality and fashion to elevate the casual elegance of the modern woman.”

The campaign also marks a continuation of the brand's ongoing philanthropic partnership with Vital Voices Global Partnership, an international nonprofit committed to investing in women leaders who use their voices to drive social change in their communities. Inspired by the Footsteps to Follow concept, Serena and Stuart Weitzman partnered to select Judith Martinez, Founder and CEO of InHerShoes Movement as the next Stuart Weitzman x Vital Voices grant recipient. Her nonprofit is centered on empowering the next generation of girls and women to live beyond fear and redefine their futures through one question: What would you do if you were 1% more courageous? This donation marks the fifth grant made from the company’s foundation on behalf of Stuart Weitzman.

The talented group of fashion forces behind the scenes of the SW x SW campaigns reconvened to bring Footsteps to Follow to life. This includes photographer and director Ethan James Green, whose body of work is dedicated to elevating inner beauty, as well as the unique eye of stylist and Garage Fashion Director Gabriella Karefa-Johnson. They were joined by makeup artist Natasha Gross and hair stylist Angela Meadows, who also returned this season to create bold new looks that highlight Serena’s confidence.

In addition, the Spring 2021 Campaign also features the photography of renowned still-life photographer Robin Broadbent. With his exquisite and illustrative aesthetic, he elevates the detailed beauty and craftsmanship of each silhouette.

The Spring 2021 campaign debuts on the newly-relaunched stuartweitzman.com on March 2, 2021.
