On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the Faena Theater will host a special one-night-only tribute to Latin jazz icon Cal Tjader, celebrating what would have been the vibraphonist’s 100th birthday. Legendary percussionist Sammy Figueroa leads the evening, bringing Tjader’s signature blend of cool jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms back to life.
The 90-minute concert begins at 8:00 p.m. and features an all-star lineup, including Latin Grammy winner Felipe Fournier, pianist Tal Cohen, bassist Agustin Conti, and drummer Reinier Guerra. Together, they will recreate the sound of Tjader’s famed quintet, performing hits such as Soul Sauce and Mambo Mindoro.
In addition to live performances, the tribute incorporates archival footage, offering audiences both the rhythm and history of Tjader’s groundbreaking career.
Tickets start at $50 per person, with food and beverages available for purchase separately. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the show. Group reservations for six or more guests can be made by emailing faenatheater@faena.com.
