On Monday, November 14, Miami’s Southern culinary hot spot Rosie’s: The Backyard is welcoming culinary enthusiasts to engage in a night of revelry and fine dining as it introduces a new dinner series created by Executive Chef Akino West. This exclusive dinner party will feature a multi-course menu (with optional wine pairing) of indulgent cuisine under the twinkling lights and banyan tree of the open-space concept. A harmonious playlist of R&B, jazz and soul music will set the mood and liven the ambiance.
Inspired by Chef West’s culinary repertoire, Southern upbringing and years working alongside chefs at award-winning restaurants, the dinner includes five carefully curated courses, featuring an array of elevated Southern-inspired dishes with subtle Italian nuances.
“When creating the menu for this first dinner series, I wanted to honor and put a spin on classic dishes I grew up making with my family,” said West. “The Grandma’s Sweet Potato Pie is a perfect example, as I incorporated the brown butter to give it an elevated and sweet finish.”

First and second courses include Spiced Peanuts spiked with Calabrian oil; Tender Crab with crispy shallots and Florida citrus; and Collard Green Arancini with smoked yogurt. Main courses include a Grilled Pork Chop with a Southern polenta cake, savory jus, charred okra, and dehydrated feta. The final course will include a palette cleanser and Grandma’s Sweet Potato Pie, made with semolina and brown butter.
“The goal of the series is to create a memorable on-off experience as each menu is exclusive to each night, the playfulness and high level of execution of each menu will give our audience a peek of what is in store for the future of Rosie’s.” said co-owner, Jamila West.
The inaugural dinner party will take place Monday, November 14, at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and is $75 per guest with the option to add a wine pairing for $35 per guest along with a pescatarian or vegetarian tasting option for an additional $10 per guest.
