Redefining the Muse: Charlotte Jackson on Curves, Couture & Confidence

ree

At the intersection of performance, fashion, and advocacy stands Charlotte Jackson – a former actress and singer who has become a driving force behind the scenes of luxury fashion. A regular at Paris Fashion Week and the founder of The Curve Authority, Charlotte is redefining industry standards by championing inclusivity, celebrating women with curves, and urging designers to see them not as an afterthought but as the muse. In this exclusive conversation with Miami Living Magazine, she shares her vision for a more representative fashion world, the power of personal style, and why the future of couture belongs to women of all ages, sizes, and stages of life.

Miami Living (ML): You’ve lived life on both sides of the spotlight, first as a performer, now as a power player in fashion. How has your background as an actress and singer shaped the way you approach fashion and representation today?

Charlotte: My background in music and acting taught me that presence is not just something you see, it is something you feel. On stage, I learned that true presence begins long before the curtain rises; it lives in confidence, preparation, and the way you choose to show up.

That same truth applies to fashion. What you wear becomes your language. It tells your story before you speak. Those experiences helped me understand that fashion is not just about fabric or form, it is about emotion, message, and identity.

As an artist, I learned to use wardrobe as an expression, and as a woman, I now use fashion as empowerment. That perspective continues to drive The Curve Authority because for me, style is not surface, it is soul.

ML: You are a familiar face at Paris Fashion Week. What is the most striking thing you have noticed this year, whether in the shows themselves, the audience, or the backstage energy?

Charlotte:  Paris Fashion Week will always feel like a dream draped in silk and sequins, but this season carried something deeper-- a pulse of change that you could feel in the air. I saw designers, editors, and models leaning into a new kind of beauty, one that celebrates individuality, confidence, and authenticity.

What struck me most wasn’t just what was on the runway, but who was being invited to the table. The dialogue around inclusivity is no longer a whisper, it’s a movement. And that movement is becoming magnetic.

As I watched from the front row, I realized that this moment in fashion mirrors the mission of The Curve Authority, artistry that uplifts, beauty that includes, and fashion that empowers. It is no longer about perfection; it is about presence. Paris reminded me that true luxury is not exclusion, it is evolution. And that evolution is finally reflecting women like us; women of power, purpose, and poise.

ML: The Curve Authority was born out of your lived experience of navigating Fashion Week as a woman with curves. Can you share a moment when you first realized the industry had not truly made space for you, and how that moment sparked your movement?

Charlotte:  The Curve Authority was born out of both passion and purpose. During one of my early seasons at Paris Fashion Week, I stood in a room filled with breathtaking designs and incredible energy.

As I looked around, something struck me deeply, no one in that space looked like me. I did not see women with curves, women of my age, or women who carried the same presence reflected anywhere in the room. That realization was both sobering and awakening. Although I was extremely grateful for the opportunity to be included, I found myself consumed with the idea of What if? What would it be like if there was a permanent space for the plus size mature woman that desires to wear luxury fashion?

In that instant, I understood that I was not there to wait for an invitation or to fit into an image that did not include me. I was there to expand the vision, to help fashion see beauty, confidence, and couture through a broader lens that celebrates every size, shape, and season of life.

That moment became the seed for The Curve Authority. It grew into a movement that ensures women who have long been overlooked are no longer on the outside looking in, but at the center of fashion’s story.

Our mantra: We See You. We Style You. We Crown You. was born from that vision. It is more than a statement, it is a promise to every woman that she belongs, she shines, and her presence is powerful.

ML: You have said fashion is more than just clothes; it is about power, presence, and purpose. When you put on a piece that feels right, what changes in you?

Charlotte:  I was raised in a family that understood the power of presentation. My father was a sharp dresser, even in his work uniform. He would say, “How you carry yourself speaks before you ever say a word.” That truth stayed with me.

My mother and cousin each had an effortless sense of style, and together they showed me that fashion is more than what you wear; it is how you honor yourself.

When I put on a piece that feels right, I feel completely confident and assured of who I am and how I show up in the world. It is not about labels or trends; it is about authenticity. The right look brings everything into harmony.

It reminds me that beauty begins within and simply manifests outwardly. Fashion becomes a mirror reflecting confidence, dignity, and divine strength. That feeling is what I carry into The Curve Authority, the understanding that when a woman sees herself clearly, she moves differently, she shines differently, and the world cannot help but take notice.

ML: In-store boutique shopping is something you advocate for strongly, even in today’s click-and-buy culture. Can you walk us through what makes the in-store experience so transformative, especially for women with curves?

Charlotte:  There is something sacred about the in-store experience. It is personal, intentional, and filled with connection.

When you step into a boutique, you are not just browsing clothes; you are entering a space where fabric meets feeling. You can see the craftsmanship, feel the textures, and experience how a garment embraces both your body and your confidence.

For women with curves, that moment can be transformative. Many of us have been conditioned to shop online, hiding behind screens or settling for limited options. Walking into a boutique that welcomes you, where someone understands your shape, your story, and your sense of style, changes everything.

It becomes a revelation. You remember that you deserve to be seen, styled, and celebrated. That is what I love about boutique shopping. It is not about convenience; it is about connection.  It is a reminder that luxury begins the moment you are acknowledged and that true style is an intimate experience between you, your reflection and the brand.

ML: Many brands still see plus-sized fashion as extended sizing rather than couture or inspiration. What are some practical steps you encourage designers to take so that curvy women are not just included, but celebrated as the muse?

Charlotte:  We are here to shift the narrative, to ensure women with curves are not treated as an afterthought, but recognized as the muse, the blueprint, the starting point in equal alignment with the standard sizing. Tailoring is a key essential for any size. Adjustments can be required at any size point. That’s the beauty about fashion: it truly is not one size fits all. Style is personal.

One of the key missions of The Curve Authority is to challenge top-tier designers to not only include curvy women, but to make us a part of their inspiration. We are not just women in clothes, we are women of power, presence, and purpose, and that deserves to be reflected in the design process.

My message to the industry is simple. When designers and fashion houses cut their standard sizes, cut ours too. We are ready, willing, and able to buy. We have the taste, the resources, and the desire to wear luxury that fits our form and reflects our lifestyle.  Designing for women with curves should not be viewed as a risk, but as an invitation to elevate creativity and expand the meaning of couture.

The Curve Authority exists to remind the world that plus-size women are not an exception; we are an expression of beauty, influence, and strength. When fashion begins to design with that understanding, it finds not limitation, but liberation.

ML: Women over 50 and those with curves represent some of the most powerful and loyal consumers in luxury, yet they often remain unseen in major campaigns. What message do you hope fashion houses will finally understand about this audience?

Charlotte:  For far too long, fashion has celebrated youth while overlooking the very women who sustain it. The women over 50, the curvy women, the women of influence and means, they are the heartbeat of luxury.  When brands exclude them from campaigns, they send an unspoken message that elegance has an expiration date. That could not be further from the truth.

These women are leading corporations, buying couture, and shaping culture. They have the spending power, the sophistication, and the confidence that help define the luxury market.  Representation is not only about visibility; it is about value. When fashion recognizes the mature and curvy woman as the muse, not the margin, it will unlock deeper creativity and stronger loyalty.

Luxury must evolve to mirror the real women who sustain it. True couture does not fade with age or size, it grows richer, wiser, and more radiant, just like the women who wear it.  That is the message The Curve Authority stands for, beauty, power, and presence without apology, at every stage of life.

ML: Looking ahead, what is next for you and The Curve Authority? Are there upcoming projects, collaborations, or visions you are most excited to bring into reality?

Charlotte:  The Curve Authority is stepping into a luminous new era defined by purpose, presence, and global possibility. What began as a vision to create space for women of every curve and age has evolved into an international dialogue about beauty, confidence, and belonging.

We are partnering with designers, creatives, and innovators who understand that inclusivity is the true heartbeat of modern luxury. Every collaboration is intentional, built to merge art with advocacy, elegance with empowerment, and style with substance.

There are remarkable projects and features on the horizon that will expand our reach far beyond the runway and into cultural conversation. Each moment we create is designed to remind women everywhere that confidence has no size limit and elegance has no expiration. The Curve Authority is more than a brand; it is a global movement, a love letter to every woman who has ever felt unseen, and a promise that her time is now.

The world is watching, and we are ready for our close-up.
