Red Bull Show Run at the Colosseum highlighted a very special edition of Giro d'Italia that also saw the introduction of a new strategic feature that made a real impact on the overall standings in the battle for the Maglia Rosa: Red Bull KM. Here's all you need to know:

The final race day kicked off with Red Bull Show Run, an action packed motorsports event held right next to the Colosseum. Stealing the show: a Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe team bicycle transported by a Red Bull Racing F1 car, a first-time ever action paying tribute to Italy’s deep passion for road cycling.
Behind the wheel was former F1 driver Patrick Friesacher, who wore a special helmet dedicated to the Maglia Rosa and wowed thousands of spectators gathered in the heart of ancient Rome with spectacular stunts, burnouts, skids, and donuts.
As someone who follows cycling closely, Friesacher also expressed admiration for what the Giro d’Italia riders endure: “It’s so impressive what the Giro riders are doing along the 21 stages,” he said. “It’s a great sport".

Friesacher also sees a natural connection between the two sports. “I know many F1 drivers who love cycling,” he added. “Even for myself… I love going out on the bike. The fitness, the focus, it all translates”.
The 2025 Giro d'Italia also introduced a new scoring feature called Red Bull KM, which was an intermediate sprint on 19 of the 21 stages, offering the first three riders to cross the exit gate of the kilometre will earn time bonuses of six, four, and two seconds, respectively.

This gave the riders an additional chance to affect the overall standings since the Red Bull KM was the only intermediate point of the race awarding bonus seconds for the overall standings – alongside the stage finish, where the winner got a 10-second bonus.

Although the bonuses may seem minor, they proved crucial in a race often decided by razor-thin margins. The Red Bull KM introduced a new tactical element to Giro d'Italia, breaking up the monotony of long stages and compelling general classification (GC) contenders to take risks far from the finish line.

The Italian Manuele Tarozzi (VF Group Bardiani CSF Faizanè) won the special Red Bull KM classification with 45 points, ahead of the Mexican talent on the second step of the final podium Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates XRG) at 33 and the winner of the San Valentino Brentonico stage Christian Scaroni (XDS Astana Team) at 30.
