PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary Hosts Screening of "25 Cats of Qatar"

PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary will host a screening of the documentary 25 Cats of Qatar at Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. Tickets for the event are available for $15.

Following the film, attendees can participate in a meet and greet reception with the director, Mye Hoang, and members of the PURRR team.

Documentary Overview

Directed by Hoang, the film examines the street cat population in Qatar, a nation experiencing rapid growth where disease and extreme heat affect the feline population. The narrative follows an American flight attendant and cat cafe owner who orchestrates a rescue mission to transport 25 cats to Milwaukee for adoption. The documentary highlights broader animal welfare issues and international rescue efforts.

PURRR's Mission and Adoption Process

Founded in 2018, PURRR is a Fort Lauderdale nonprofit focused on cat rescue, adoption, and spay and neuter initiatives. The organization currently houses over 150 adoptable cats and uses a matching system called "Find Your One" to pair felines with adopters based on personality profiles.

The adoption process involves an initial application, followed by a scheduled meet and greet within 48 hours. The team then conducts a 15-minute in-home consultation to facilitate integration. Before a cat is placed, the staff performs a medical examination and bloodwork. The organization follows up after one week to monitor the transition and provides ongoing support to owners.
