For more than five decades, C&D Printing & Packaging has been helping businesses bring their brands to life through exceptional printing, custom packaging, and innovative manufacturing solutions. As one of Florida's largest independently owned folding carton and commercial printing manufacturers, the family-owned company has built a reputation for quality, innovation, and personalized service. In this interview with Miami Living Magazine, we explore the story behind C&D's enduring success, the evolution of the printing and packaging industry, and the vision that continues to guide the company into the future.

Miami Living (ML): C&D Printing & Packaging has been family-owned and independently operated for more than 50 years. What do you believe has been the key to your longevity and continued growth in an industry that has evolved so dramatically over the decades?

C&D: It really comes down to two things: relationships and equipment. From day one, C&D has treated every client relationship as a long-term partnership rather than a transaction. Many of our customers have been with us for decades, and that only happens when you consistently deliver on quality, on best-in-market lead times, and do what you say you will do. Concurrently, we have consistently reinvested in the business and made sure our equipment is state-of-the-art and up-to-date. We never want to be in a position to say no to our customers because of a missing capability. We want to make sure we provide the full-service experience. Industries change, technology changes, but the fundamentals don't: do exceptional work, stand behind it, and take care of the people who trust you with their brand. Being family-owned lets us make those decisions quickly and for the long term.

ML: Packaging is often a consumer's very first interaction with a brand. How do you help your clients create packaging that not only protects a product but also leaves a memorable first impression?

C&D: We always tell our clients: your package is your best salesperson. It's working for you on the shelf, on the doorstep, and in the unboxing moment, before a customer has ever touched your product. So we start every project by understanding the brand story and where the package will live, and then we bring the full toolbox to the table: structural design that protects and functions beautifully, precise color that stays true to the brand every single run, and finishes like foil stamping, embossing, coatings, and specialty substrates that create that tactile “wow” moment. That first impression is too important to leave to chance. How many times have you picked a product in store because of how good it looks?

ML: From nutraceuticals and healthcare to food service and consumer packaged goods, C&D serves a remarkably diverse range of industries. How does your team adapt its approach to meet the unique needs and regulatory requirements of each sector?

C&D: Every industry has its own language, and we've made it our business to speak all of them fluently. A nutraceutical brand needs tamper-evidence, precise regulatory copy, and a high degree of traceability. A food-service client needs food-safe materials and coatings. A beauty brand may care most about shelf impact and premium finishes. Our team has spent years building deep expertise across these verticals, and our certifications (GMI, G7 Master, FSC) give clients in regulated industries confidence that our processes are audited, consistent, and documented. Our clients get to focus on growing their brand while we handle the technical complexity behind it.

ML: Technology continues to transform the printing and packaging industry. How have innovations such as advanced offset and digital printing enhanced what you're able to offer your clients today, and what emerging technologies are you most excited about for the future?

C&D: Technology has dramatically expanded what's possible. Our advanced offset presses deliver exceptional color fidelity and efficiency at scale, while digital printing has opened the door for shorter runs, faster turnarounds, versioning, and cost-effective prototyping. That combination means an emerging brand can launch with the same print quality as a national CPG company, and an established brand can test new SKUs or regional variations without committing to huge volumes. Looking ahead, we're most excited about continued automation in prepress and finishing, data-driven personalization, and innovations in sustainable substrates and coatings. All of these items will continue to differentiate us, and make our customers’ products better.

ML: C&D has earned certifications including G7 Master Color, GMI, FSC® certification, and Green certification standards. Why are these certifications important, and how do they reflect your commitment to quality, consistency, and responsible manufacturing?

C&D: Certifications are how we turn promises into proof. G7 Master qualification means the color a brand approves is the color that shows up on press, run after run. Consistency is everything for brand owners. GMI certification means major retailers have audited our processes and trust us to print their packaging to exacting standards. FSC certification gives our clients a verified chain of custody for responsibly sourced paperboard, and our green manufacturing practices reflect a genuine commitment to reducing waste and environmental impact throughout our operation. But beyond the plaques on the wall, what these certifications really represent is discipline, documented processes, ongoing audits, and a culture of accountability. Our clients don't have to take our word for it, the standards speak for themselves.

ML: As consumer expectations continue to evolve, sustainability has become an increasingly important consideration. How is C&D helping clients balance environmental responsibility with exceptional packaging design, performance, and brand presentation?

C&D: The great news is that sustainability and beautiful packaging are no longer trade-offs. Folding cartons are inherently one of the most sustainable packaging formats: paperboard is renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable. We continue to build on that foundation with FSC-certified sourcing, recycled-content boards, vegetable-based inks, and recyclable coatings that can replace traditional laminations. We also help clients think structurally: smarter designs that use less material, ship more efficiently, and eliminate unnecessary components without sacrificing shelf presence. Consumers increasingly reward brands that make these choices, so sustainability has actually become a brand asset. Our job is to guide each client to the right balance of environmental responsibility, performance, and presentation for their product and their customer, and today, they really can have all three.

ML: One of C&D's strengths is providing everything from concept and design through production under one roof. What advantages does this integrated manufacturing approach offer your clients compared with working with multiple vendors?

C&D: Speed, accountability, and consistency. When design, prepress, printing, finishing, and fulfillment all happen under one roof, projects move faster because there are no handoffs between vendors, no shipping delays between facilities, and no finger-pointing when something needs adjusting. Our clients have one point of contact and one team that owns the result from concept to delivered carton. Quality control is seamless because the same color standards and specifications follow the job through every step. Also, consolidating with a single manufacturing partner eliminates the markups and inefficiencies that stack up across multiple vendors. In an era when supply chains have been tested, our clients have found real peace of mind in knowing exactly where their packaging is made and who stands behind it.

ML: After more than five decades of success, what excites you most about the future of C&D Printing & Packaging, and what vision will continue to guide the company over the next 10 years?

C&D: What excites us most is that we're building on a 50-year foundation with the energy of a company that's just getting started. Florida is one of the fastest-growing markets in the country, and the brands being built here, in food, beauty, wellness, hospitality, and beyond, deserve a world-class packaging partner in their own backyard. Over the next decade, our vision is to keep investing in advanced capabilities, expand what we can offer under one roof, deepen our commitment to sustainable manufacturing, and grow alongside our clients as they scale. But the guiding principle won't change: this is a family business. We measure success in decades-long partnerships, in the careers we build for our team, and in the brands we help bring to life. Our tools will keep evolving and improving, our values will stay true.
