Phantoms Pay Special Musical Tribute to Aaliyah

Los Angeles-based electronic duo Phantoms (aka Kyle Kaplan and Vinnie Pergola) share their cover of the Aaliyah classic “One In A Million.”

Phantoms comment on the tribute, "We’re both big fans of Aaliyah and when we re-listened to her song “One In a Million” we thought it would be fun to try to repurpose it as a house vocal. It surprised us how anthemic it sounded when it was put on top of these big chords - you just felt like you had to sing along. It’s really an honor to be putting out a single with that vocal part and it’s always a highlight of our sets when we get to play it live."

“One In A Million” arrives hot on the heels of the group’s 2019 critically acclaimed Disconnect EP. Racking up over 20 million streams and receiving nods from Billboard,Dancing Astronaut, EDM Identity, and more, they supported the release with sold-out shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Phoenix, and Dallas on the Disconnect Tour. Meanwhile, they graced the festival stages of Life Is Beautiful, Okeechobee, EDCMexico, and Voodoo Music + More, to name a few. The project also boasted the lead single “Say It” [feat. Anna Clendening], which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Top Electronic Songs Chart and reached #1 on US Dance Radio.

Phantoms have recently kept busy by cooking up much-anticipated remixes for Tiësto and Becky Hill as well as SACHI and Jai Wolf.

In 2018, Phantoms released the much buzzed about “Lay With Me” feat. Vanessa Hudgens, which has amassed over 11 million combined streams to date. The success of “Lay With Me” followed their chart topping “Just A Feeling” [feat. VÉRITÉ] from the duo's self-titled debut, Phantoms out via Casablanca Records / Republic Records. “Just A Feeling” clinched the #1 spot on the Sirius/XM BPM Top 20 Countdown for over eight weeks and shattered the previous record in the process. It closed out 2017 as #1 on the Countdown and BPM’s “Breaker of the Year.” The single held the #1 spot at Dance Radio for 4 straight weeks in addition to peaking at #1 on the iTunes Top Electronic Songs Chart and clearing over 15 million combined streams to date. Phantoms have played Firefly Festival, Electric Forest, SnowGlobe, ULTRA, and Billboard Hot 100 Festival in addition to touching down in Japan. Applauded by NPR, Billboard, Dancing Astronaut, and more, Phantoms have cemented their status as electronic music’s hottest live act.
