Greater Miami and Miami Beach has always been a go-to destination for alfresco dining, long beach walks and a little indulgence. Increasingly, that indulgence includes four-legged family members.

From oceanfront hotels with curated pet amenities to breezy outdoor restaurants with specialized doggie menus, Miami has become one of the country’s most pet-friendly urban escapes. And in honor of National Pet Day on April 11, we’ve rounded up some of the best spots throughout the city where dogs aren’t simply tolerated—they’re genuinely welcomed.

The Betsy - South Beach

A City Designed for Dogs

Part of Miami’s appeal for pet travelers is simple geography. The city’s year-round sunshine and outdoor lifestyle naturally lend themselves to dog-friendly patios, waterfront walks and open-air attractions.

One of the best places to start is Lincoln Road, Miami Beach’s iconic palm-lined pedestrian promenade. Stretching across eight blocks, the open-air destination offers more than 200 shops, restaurants and cultural venues perfect for strolling with a pup in tow. Stylish dogs can even enjoy a bit of retail therapy at Bonefly, a luxury pet boutique known for chic accessories like crystal bone collars, quilted harnesses and other fashionable essentials fit for Miami’s most glamorous companions.

Pet-Friendly Stays with VIP (Very Important Pup) Treatment

At The Betsy – South Beach, dogs are woven into the hotel’s personality. The beloved property is home to resident golden retrievers, Betsy and Rosa, affectionately known as the hotel’s Canine Executive Officers, along with Daisy, a rescued German shepherd. Guests often encounter the dogs roaming the property, and on Fridays, the pups even host a 5 p.m. cocktail hour meet-and-greet. The hotel provides homemade dog treats, bowls, beds and easy access to nearby Lummus Park for seaside walks.

A mile away, The Gates Hotel South Beach offers a wellness-focused stay for both humans and their pets. The Tail Waggin’ Retreat package welcomes pups with a plush bed, a water bowl and gourmet treats. For the ultimate relaxation moment, pets can even enjoy a soothing massage alongside their owners through the hotel’s partnership with K’Alma Spa.

In Mid-Beach, Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club welcomes furry guests through its Cadillac Pet Program, offering Waggo dog beds, bowls and treats at check-in. The oceanfront property sits steps from Miami Beach’s scenic boardwalk, making sunrise or sunset strolls with your dog particularly memorable.

Nearby, Hotel Continental adds a playful twist with its “Pup Passport,” a curated guide to the neighborhood’s best dog-friendly restaurants, parks and services. Each pet stay includes a welcome kit stocked with treats, bedding and toys—and a portion of the pet fee supports the Humane Society of Greater Miami.

In the heart of South Beach, The Goodtime Hotel offers a vibrant, pet-friendly retreat just steps from the beach. The hotel welcomes up to two dogs per room and provides a curated puppy itinerary featuring nearby walking routes and pet-friendly dining options. With Washington Dog Park & Annex just a short stroll away, it’s an easygoing stay for both pets and their owners.

Beyond Miami Beach, travelers exploring the urban energy of Wynwood or Downtown Miami will find equally accommodating options. Arlo Wynwood places guests steps from the neighborhood’s colorful murals and dog-friendly patios, while The Elser Hotel & Residences offers pet concierge services through WagSpot for grooming, boarding or veterinary care. In Brickell, Novotel Miami Brickell provides easy access to nearby parks and waterfront walks along the Rickenbacker Causeway.

Dining Out with Your Dog

In Miami, outdoor seating is abundant, and many restaurants welcome dogs as eagerly as their human guests.

In South Beach, Laurel Miami Beach offers a leafy courtyard and breezy terrace perfect for enjoying Mediterranean-inspired dishes with a pup by your side. Just steps away, SoFi Coffee blends laid-back hospitality with locally roasted brews in a relaxed open-air setting near the Miami Beach boardwalk.

For something more refined, LT South Beach at The Betsy invites diners and their dogs to its outdoor patio overlooking Ocean Drive. The New American menu by Chef Laurent Tourondel features sushi rolls, flatbreads and seafood dishes crafted with locally sourced ingredients. Just around the corner, Tourondel’s trattoria, The Alley, offers Roman-style pizzas served in a charming, tucked-away courtyard.

For a more elevated experience, Uchiko Miami Beach offers pet-friendly outdoor patio seating alongside its inventive take on modern Japanese cuisine. Created by James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole, the menu features shareable small plates, nigiri and yakitori, plus larger-format dishes, all complemented by a selection of sake, Japanese whiskies and seasonal cocktails.

In Mid-Beach, Bungalow Beach Bar & Grill and Donna Mare Italian Chophouse combine pet-friendly terraces with easy access to the oceanfront boardwalk, creating an ideal stop during a long beachside walk.

Wynwood brings a different energy entirely. At Wyn Wyn, the restaurant at Arlo Wynwood, guests can enjoy dishes like burrata with compressed watermelon or steak frites while dogs relax on the outdoor patio. Nearby, THRōW Social® Miami adds a playful twist, inviting guests and their pups into a sprawling indoor-outdoor venue filled with games, cocktails and live music.

Further south in Coconut Grove, Al Bàcaro, a Venetian-style tavern tucked behind Da Angelino Cucina Italiana, offers an intimate open-air setting where dogs can join their owners for spritzes, cicchetti and Italian small plates.

A Dog’s Day Out

Beyond Miami-Dade County, pet-friendly dining continues throughout South Florida. In Fort Lauderdale, Casa Sensei goes the extra mile with a dedicated dog menu featuring “doggie sushi,” including the popular Woof Roll made with beef, rice, carrots and peas. At Deerfield Beach, The Break House Kitchen & Beach Bar welcomes pets to its breezy rooftop lounge overlooking the ocean.

And in West Palm Beach, aioli Sour Dough Bakery & Café, a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient, invites guests to enjoy its outdoor seating with their dogs while indulging in freshly baked sourdough breads, pastries and café favorites.

Traveling Together

As pet travel continues to grow, Miami’s hospitality scene has embraced the shift.

For visitors celebrating National Pet Day, that means beach walks at sunrise, patio lunches in the shade and stylish hotel stays where pups are treated like VIPs. In a city built around sunshine and outdoor living, sharing the experience with a loyal companion just feels natural.
