Introduced just a year ago, the Patek Philippe Cubitus collection marked the brand’s first entirely new series in 25 years. The trio of integrated bracelet sports watches—stainless steel ref. 5821/1A-001, two-tone steel and rose gold ref. 5821/1AR-001, and platinum ref. 5822P-001—continues to spark debate and discussion among watch enthusiasts.

At launch, the Cubitus drew immediate comparisons to the iconic Nautilus, particularly for its integrated bracelet and horizontal “deck plank” dial design. However, its angular, modern aesthetic set it apart. The 45mm case features beveled edges and squared-off forms, offering a sharp departure from the Nautilus’s signature curves. Interestingly, the bracelet design remains largely unchanged, retaining the familiar H-link structure with polished center links.
The collection maintains a streamlined profile, with the three-hand models measuring just 8.3mm thick. The ref. 5822P-001, featuring day, date, and moon-phase complications, adds slightly more depth at 9.6mm. Dial options range from an olive green sunburst on the stainless steel model to deep blue on the steel-gold variant, while the platinum version introduces an intricate asymmetric layout with subdials.
Mechanically, the Cubitus collection showcases Patek Philippe’s commitment to excellence. The three-hand models use the in-house 26-330 S C movement, while the platinum model introduced the innovative 240 PS CI J LU movement, featuring six patents for advanced calendar functions. Both movements are impeccably finished, visible through sapphire casebacks.
Since its release, the Cubitus has evoked mixed reactions. To some, it represents a bold new direction for Patek Philippe’s sports watches, offering a modern twist on the brand’s heritage. For others, its similarities to the Nautilus blur its identity, leaving the collection in the shadow of its predecessor.
Pricing for the Cubitus collection starts at $41,243 for the stainless steel ref. 5821/1A-001, $61,275 for the steel-gold ref. 5821/1AR-001, and $88,378 for the platinum ref. 5822P-001.
