Partnership For Miami and Miami-Dade Public Schools Launch New Initiative to Increase Enrollment in Six High-Performing District Schools

The Partnership for Miami has launched a collaborative effort with Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) aimed at boosting student enrollment in six of the district’s high-performing schools.

Currently, seats are available across these six schools, offering families an excellent opportunity to enroll in high-performing educational environments. Each of these schools demonstrates strong academic outputs, with nearly 70 percent or more of students performing at or above grade level in Math and English Language Arts on last year’s Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST). Serving communities where many students are economically disadvantaged, this initiative is both timely and meaningful to broaden access to quality education and support educational opportunities for all learners.

“Student success is at the heart of everything we do. Increasing enrollment in our schools enhances the robust academic programs, enrichment opportunities, and wraparound services we can offer,” said Superintendent Dr. Jose L. Dotres. “We are grateful for the support of the Partnership for Miami in helping us connect more families to the high-quality educational options that we offer to ensure every child in our community reaches their full potential.”

The six schools the Partnership is investing in are: Crestview Elementary, Phyllis Miller Elementary, Snapper Creek Elementary, Zora Neale Hurston Elementary, Marjory Stoneman Douglas Elementary, and Southwood Middle School.

“Students’ academic achievement matters deeply, which is why growing enrollment in high-quality schools is a major priority for the Partnership for Miami. At the six schools we are working with, the overwhelming majority of students achieve at or above grade-level academic performance. To accelerate this work, we are investing in upskilling our school leaders and their teams to better engage their communities, strengthen their enrollment marketing skills, and help more students access a strong education,” said Ana Codina, Co-Chair, Partnership for Miami.

“This effort reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to honoring family choice and enhancing educational opportunity while ensuring our schools are fully equipped to support every student,” said Dr. Verena Cabrera, Enterprise Development Officer for M-DCPS.

In Florida, student enrollment directly drives public school funding, creating an opportunity to reinvest in our schools. At M-DCPS, every new student can generate approximately $11,000 in funding, which supports enhanced academic programs, after-school enrichment, athletics, and vital instructional services. Even a modest increase in enrollment can make a meaningful difference in expanding resources at our schools to support student success. This collaborative model not only boosts awareness of these schools but also builds long-term capacity within each school team to sustain enrollment growth in the future.
