Pérez Art Museum Miami has selected two works by artist Daniel Ochoa for its permanent collection as part of the 2025 SCOPE Art Show PAMM Prize. The acquisition follows SCOPE Art Show, held in Miami Beach from December 2 to 7, and marks the third year of the museum’s partnership with the fair.

Chosen by PAMM Senior Director of Curatorial Affairs and Chief Curator José Carlos Diaz, the selected works—Inside Your Body, There is a Light That Never Goes Out (2025) and Biophoton (2025)—were presented by Miami-based gallery Quiet Hours. The prize provides acquisition funding for PAMM curators to bring works from SCOPE into the museum’s permanent holdings.
Ochoa, who lives and works in Miami, recently completed his first solo exhibition, The Anatomy of an Object, at Quiet Hours. His practice explores the relationship between the human body and the objects that surround it, often using wood, leather, and other natural materials. By blurring distinctions between object and organism, Ochoa’s work reflects on transformation, endurance, and the physical rituals of everyday life.
The two sculptures acquired by PAMM were created specifically for SCOPE and represent a shift toward light and reflection as central elements in Ochoa’s work. Both pieces also experiment with scale, using larger, more imposing forms to create an immersive physical presence that encourages close engagement.
The selection underscores PAMM’s ongoing commitment to collecting work by artists connected to Miami’s evolving cultural landscape. It also highlights the growing role of smaller, emerging galleries such as Quiet Hours in shaping the city’s contemporary art dialogue.
The SCOPE Art Show PAMM Prize continues to serve as a bridge between the fair and the museum, offering artists exposure beyond the temporary context of an art fair and placing their work into long-term public view at PAMM.
