He shares his favorite South Florida spots seaside, bayside, and riverside.
Fowey Rocks Lighthouse
Just south of Key Biscayne, this in-ocean lighthouse is the perfect spot to relax and do some snorkeling when the water is calm. While near Key Biscayne, anchor by the Marine Stadium for a view of the downtown Miami skyline. It’s stunning at night.
I love cruising down the Miami River. There are so many great spots to eat and drink along the water. Kiki on the River is my top pick to dock for lunch or dinner. You almost feel like you’re in Europe. There is a great atmosphere with upbeat music and excellent food. I recommend ordering the whole fish.

Shooters has a laid-back vibe with great food, drinks, and live music, and it’s perfect for watching sporting events. 15th Street Fisheries is one of my favorite low-key restaurants for amazing, authentic seafood. If you’re boating in the evening, I recommend Mastro’s Steakhouse for a nice dinner and a scenic trip through the beautiful houses in the Isles and Intracoastal. Cruise down the New River for some amazing sightseeing.

Anchor in Lake Boca and head over to Trattoria Romano for a festive Italian dinner. Just minutes from Downtown Boca, I also recommend the Sand Bar of Boca. It has a very relaxed, fun vibe with a great view of Boca Resort.
Some of the most beautiful waterfront homes in all of South Florida are in Harbour Beach. It is an upscale guard gated community with less than 400 homes, and minutes from the inlet and the beach. Cruise by to check out the real estate and some impressive yachts docked behind some of the most stunning homes.
The more south you venture, the clearer the water. Located between Miami and Key Largo, Elliott Key has beautiful water and is a great place to anchor and spend the night.
