The Miami Design District welcomes acclaimed art historian and bestselling author Katy Hessel for a special one-night talk and book signing in celebration of her latest release, How to Live an Artful Life.

Hosted at Dale Zine, the evening offers an intimate opportunity to hear from one of the art world’s most influential contemporary voices. Hessel is widely recognized for reshaping the canon through her platform @thegreatwomenartists and her widely celebrated debut, The Story of Art Without Men, which became both a New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller and was named Waterstones Book of the Year in 2022.
Her newest book takes a more personal and immersive approach. Structured across the calendar year, How to Live an Artful Life brings together reflections, interviews, and insights from artists including Marina Abramović, Nan Goldin, Lubaina Himid, and Louise Bourgeois. The result is a thoughtful guide that encourages readers to integrate creativity into their everyday lives.
Hessel’s influence extends far beyond publishing. From hosting The Great Women Artists Podcast to writing for The Guardian, she has become a leading voice in expanding visibility for women artists globally.
The event at Dale Zine begins at 6:30 PM, followed by a conversation at 7:00 PM and a book signing and reception afterward. With Hessel in town for one day only, the evening presents a rare chance for Miami’s cultural community to engage directly with her work and perspective.
