Dark Biosphere

Frost Planetarium


Experience a special screening of the award-winning planetarium show Dark Biosphere, narrated by Viggo Mortensen.


Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens

Level 2, Terrace


Uncover sinister seeds and creepy organisms thriving on Earth, from eerie underground life to bizarre botanical forms. Then journey with the Growing Beyond Earth® project to imagine strange plants beyond our planet—before crafting your own otherworldly air plant hanger.


Beyond the Label – Healthy Fabric Library

Level 2, Terrace


Explore the fascinatingly weird science of fibers and dyes from bacteria-based colorants to fabrics made from trash. Create a ‘bloody bookmark’ and experiment with the deep red colors of madder root dye.


FIU Nuclear Physics Group

Level 2, The Deep


Visit the “particle zoo” and observe subatomic particles like muons, electrons, positrons, and even radiation particles interacting with matter in real time!


Raw Figs Pop-up

Level 3, meLAB


Find out if you’re the next da Vinci in an anatomy-focused figure drawing pop-up by Raw Figs.


Expert on Call: Creatures of Darkness: Weird Wonders of the Deep Sea

Talks at 8:15 p.m. & 9:30 p.m.

Level 4, Vista


Dive into the twilight zone with FIU’s deep sea expert Dr. Heather Bracken-Grissom. Discover the weird, wonderful, wacky world of animals that live in the ocean’s depths and learn about the amazing adaptation animals have evolved while living in perpetual darkness and deep-sea environments. (20-minute experience)


Mad Science Lab


Level 5, Knight Learning Center Classrooms

Visit the Carnival of Curiosities and participate in mind-bending scientific wonders. Then descend into the ocean’s abyss to encounter the eerie creatures that haunt the darkness below.


Parking


Onsite parking is available in the museum garage for $18 flat rate, but is extremely limited. All cars must exit garage by 1:00 a.m. Members must present their membership card during check-in to receive discounted parking benefit. Parking is on a first come, first served basis and is not guaranteed. To learn more about onsite and nearby parking alternatives, click here. The museum is also accessible by public transportation and has a dedicated ride share drop-off/pick-up zone.

Spooky snacks, cocktails and more are available for purchase at the Space_Bar by Constellation Culinary Group


Members


Frost Science Members can purchase up to four tickets at $15.00 per person regardless of membership level entitlements.


Costume Guidelines


  • Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be offensive or objectionable as determined by museum personnel.

  • Costume may not include a component that covers the face; headwear is permissible so long as the face remains visible.

  • Costumes may not be primarily based upon a depiction of any particular race, religion, nationality, or condition of disability.

  • Costumes may not make an overt political statement of any kind.

  • Costumes may not contain any weapons or any item that might be mistaken for a weapon.

  • Costumes may not contain sharp objects or other components that might pose a risk to a guest or animal.

  • Costumes may not drag on the ground.


Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused admission or asked to leave the museum unless his/her costume can be modified to adhere to these costume guidelines.


All interpretation/implementation of these Costume Guidelines shall be made by museum personnel in their sole discretion. These Costume Guidelines are subject to change without notice.
