New World Symphony Extends Stéphane Denève’s Artistic Directorship Through 2031–32 Season
New World Symphony has extended Artistic Director Stéphane Denève’s contract through the 2031–32 season, securing his continued leadership of the orchestral academy’s artistic direction in Miami Beach.
Denève, who joined New World Symphony in 2022, has overseen premieres, multidisciplinary projects, collaborations across Miami’s cultural community and performances that experiment with how audiences experience orchestral music.
“Leading the New World Symphony artistically since 2022 has been a source of infinite joy, inspiration and hope,” Denève said. “This extraordinary institution is not only shaping the next generation of musicians, but also redefining what an orchestra can be and mean in our time.”
With the extended contract, New World Symphony plans to build on Denève’s work with its fellows, focusing on artistic training and projects that broaden the role of orchestras in contemporary cultural life.
