New World Symphony Announces March Concerts in Miami

New World Symphony is presenting three public performances in Miami this week, ranging from an immersive kirtan-inspired concert and a free outdoor event for Women’s History Month to a chamber program featuring 20th century composers.
Devotion Meets the Symphony on March 18
On Wednesday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m., NWS Viola Fellow Srivishnu Ramankutty will lead Devotion Meets the Symphony, an immersive program that combines Western classical repertoire with the participatory kirtan tradition, an Indian call-and-response art form.
The concert moves from the French colors of Maurice Ravel to music inspired by the sacred sounds of the Vedas, with audiences invited to take part in the collective musical experience. The performance will be recorded on video, and some audience members may appear on camera during the kirtan portion of the program.
Mobile WALLCAST Women’s History Month Festival on March 21
On Saturday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m., a Mobile WALLCAST Concert will turn the YWCA Miami Gardens campus into an open-air venue for a Women’s History Month Festival, featuring performances by New World Symphony Fellows.
The event is free and open to attendees of all ages, with lawn chairs, blankets, pets and families encouraged. The afternoon is designed as a community gathering that highlights the role of music in bringing people together in Miami Gardens. Learn more on the New World Symphony website.
Ives, Monk, Cage and Eastman on March 22
The chamber music program Ives, Monk, Cage & Eastman is scheduled for Sunday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m., bringing New World Symphony Fellows and alumni together on stage.
The concert includes Charles Ives’s Largo, Julius Eastman’s improvisation-driven Stay On It and John Cage’s She Is Asleep, alongside music that reflects the composers’ experiments with rhythm, harmony and sound. Tickets start at $15 and are available online from New World Symphony.
