New World Symphony Announces 2026–27 Season Highlights and Tours at New World Center
New World Symphony has released an overview of major programs for its 2026–27 concert season, led by Artistic Director Stéphane Denève and featuring returning guest artists, choral collaborations and a focus on core orchestral repertoire.
The season opens at New World Center on October 3 and 4, 2026 with a program built around Ravel’s Boléro and includes violinist Anne Akiko Meyers in Arturo Márquez’s mariachi-inspired Violin Concerto. On October 10 and 11, Denève joins New World Symphony Fellows and the Master Chorale of South Florida for a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and its Ode to Joy finale.
On November 14, 2026, New World Symphony and the Master Chorale of South Florida appear at the Adrienne Arsht Center for Mozart’s Requiem. Later that month, on November 21 and 22, violinist James Ehnes performs both of Prokofiev’s Violin Concertos in a program that highlights the composer’s range across the 20th-century repertoire.
The 2027 portion of the season features pianist Gabriela Montero in Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto alongside Mahler’s First Symphony on February 20 and 21. On March 6 and 7, Grammy-winning Baroque specialist Jeannette Sorrell conducts a program of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos with works by Vivaldi and Mozart, and on May 1 and 2 saxophonist Steven Banks reunites with Denève for Guillaume Connesson’s A Kind of Trane, a saxophone concerto that honors John Coltrane, on a program that also includes music by Gershwin and John Adams.
Following the close of its 38th season, New World Symphony is also highlighting digital access to past performances and artist features, which remain available free of charge on its online platforms. In addition, the institution continues to offer in-person docent-led tours of Frank Gehry’s New World Center in Miami on Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m., lasting approximately 45 to 60 minutes and available by advance booking.
