New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy, has partnered with Miami City Ballet to premiere five new works in a collaborative program titled American Dance Odyssey in Miami.

Described as a choreographic concerto, the initiative brings together five major composers and five major choreographers to create five new works for dance, featuring 25 dancers and 87 Fellows in performance. The program will be presented in the Michael Tilson Thomas Performance Hall, in SoundScape Park as a WALLCAST concert, and via live webcast on NWS Inside.

The project commissions new work from composer and choreographer pairings Kevin Puts and Brian Brooks, Jennifer Higdon and Tiler Peck, Sarah Kirkland Snider and Claudia Schreier, Carlos Simon and Jamar Roberts, and Michael Abels and Pam Tanowitz. Organizers describe the collaboration as part of a broader effort to deepen Miami’s cultural infrastructure, expand institutional partnerships and extend the reach of new work through digital capture, WALLCAST presentations and online distribution.

American Dance Odyssey is positioned as a next step in Miami’s development as a cultural center, highlighting large-scale commissioning, cross-institutional collaboration and public access to premieres of new artistic work. Learn more at New World Symphony.
