Musique & Vin au Clos Vougeot Supports Young Musicians With New Instrument Fund
This year’s Musique & Vin au Clos Vougeot festival in Burgundy will direct proceeds toward an Instrumental Fund that backs emerging classical musicians through new commissions and instrument making.
The festival, which brings together classical performances and leading Burgundy domaines, will run from June 20 to 28. Musique & Vin au Clos Vougeot established the fund to commission new works and provide instruments for performers at the outset of their careers.
Among the current projects supported by the fund is a collaboration with luthier Stefan-Peter Greiner, who has crafted new instruments for the Magenta Quartet, a Paris-based ensemble of early-career musicians. Greiner, who began building instruments as a teenager, now works from studios in Zurich and London and is one of several makers commissioned by the association to equip young players.
By pairing fine wine with live performance, the festival’s organisers aim to build long-term support for emerging artists, using each edition’s programme and fundraising efforts to expand opportunities for the next generation of classical musicians.
