Miami New Drama Announces the Return of Viva La Parranda

Back by popular demand, Miami New Drama proudly announces the return of Viva la Parranda, a powerful, music-driven theatrical experience that pulses with the soul of Venezuela. The acclaimed production returns to the Colony Theatre for a limited engagement from July 10-27, 2025.

Created by Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo in collaboration with Juan Carlos Souki, who also directs Viva la Parranda, it is more than a performance. It's an immersive stage celebration, born of real lives and lived memory, and brought to life by La Parranda El Clavo, the legendary multigenerational band from the small coastal town of El Clavo, Venezuela.

Following in the footsteps of Papa Cuatro, this vibrant musical, blends traditional rhythms, intimate storytelling, and electrifying percussion into a night of unforgettable theater. Featuring instruments like the cumaco, mina, culo'e puya, and quitiplás, the show is rooted in the ancestral sounds of the Venezuelan coast- music that has echoed through generations as a force of resistance, community, and celebration.

"Viva la Parranda is joy, truth, and rhythm on stage," says Artistic Director Michel Hausmann. "It's a celebration of Venezuela that sings, dreams, and refuses to surrender- and Miami embraced it with open arms. We're honored

to bring it back."

Audiences will be swept into a world of drumbeats, chants, laughter, and stories; a place where music is a form of survival, and celebration is an act of defiance. At once deeply personal and universally resonant, Viva la Parranda reminds us of the power of culture to endure, uplift, and unite.

Performance Dates: July 10-27, 2025

Location: The Colony Theatre, 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL
