Miami Music Project Appoints New Trustees to Elevate Community Voices

Miami Music Project has announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Trustees: community parent representative Olga Hurtado and business strategist Michael Hoyos. The appointments mark a strategic effort by the nonprofit to address traditional participation gaps in leadership by integrating the voices of program beneficiaries and a new generation of civic leaders.
Olga Hurtado, a Colombian-born accounting professional and CEO of NeatBooks LLC, joins the board as a parent representative. As the mother of two longtime violin students in the program, Hurtado brings a firsthand perspective on the organization’s impact. “I have seen how Miami Music Project transforms lives through music and discipline,” said Hurtado. “I am honored to help strengthen parent involvement, because when families are engaged, the impact goes far beyond music.”
Michael Hoyos joins the board through a Matching initiative led by The Miami Foundation and PhilanthropyMiami. A seasoned strategist and co-founder of Faraday Special Investments and Overview Labs, Hoyos brings expertise in private equity and social impact. Growing up in the communities the organization serves, Hoyos is committed to ensuring that access to high-quality arts education is not limited by a student's circumstances.
“Our newest board members represent two different expressions of our community-led approach,” said Anna Klimala, President and CEO of Miami Music Project. Since 2008, the award-winning nonprofit has empowered over 33,000 students from underserved communities, using free music education as a catalyst for social transformation and leadership development.
