In Miami, life moves fast. Between careers, families, social calendars, and the ever-present pressure to “keep up,” it’s easy for mental wellness to fall to the bottom of the priority list. But behind the scenes, a powerful shift is happening—led by a new generation of women who are changing the way this city approaches mental health.

This May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re spotlighting three standout professionals—Annie Josephson, Jordyn Dooley and Jordanne Sculler—who are not only building thriving practices in South Miami, but creating spaces where individuals and families can slow down, reconnect, and feel supported in a meaningful way.

They represent a more modern, approachable vision of therapy—one rooted in connection, community, and real-life application.

Anne Josephson

Uptown Psychology

Supporting Young Professionals and Families Through Life’s Most Meaningful Transitions

Anne’s work centers on providing evidence-based care to children, families, and adults. She helps individuals better cope with anxiety, depression, adhd and learning challenges. Anne and her team understand the complexities of real life, from navigating a new job or major life transition to managing the everyday emotional demands of raising children. With a warm, grounding presence, she helps clients find stability in seasons that often feel anything but predictable.

“Life isn’t about being perfect. In fact, sometimes doing more is actually doing less.”

Tips to carry into Mental Health Awareness Month:

  • Try to plan one pleasant thing a day that you can look forward to. This can be as simple as drinking your coffee in the morning or taking a long shower at night. Notice how you feel after you do your activity.

  • Allow others to help you when life feels too overwhelming. Whether it’s a partner, friend, or professional, you’re not meant to do this alone.

Jordyn Dooley

Mosaic Therapy

Helping High-Performers Find Balance in a Constantly “On” World

Jordyn works with young professionals and adults navigating anxiety, burnout, and the pressures of high-achieving environments. Her approach helps clients move beyond just “functioning” and toward feeling more present, aligned, and in control of their day-to-day lives.

“So many people are doing everything ‘right’ on paper—but still feel overwhelmed. Mental wellness is about learning how to feel good, not just keep going.”

Tips to carry into Mental Health Awareness Month:

  • Name what you’re feeling. Putting words to emotions helps reduce their intensity and gives you a starting point to process.

  • Set boundaries that protect your energy. Your time and mental space deserve to be prioritized.

Jordanne Sculler

LMHC

Bringing a Refined, Relationship-Focused Approach to Miami Families

After building her career in New York City, Jordanne Sculler has brought her expertise to South Miami, where she works with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, relationships, and major life transitions. Her style is both insightful and approachable—blending clinical depth with a real-world understanding of modern family dynamics.

“Growth often begins in discomfort—but with the right support, that discomfort can become clarity.”

Tips to carry into Mental Health Awareness Month:

  • Lean into reflection. Instead of avoiding difficult feelings, take a moment to understand what they’re signaling.

  • Prioritize connection. Strong relationships—whether personal or professional—are foundational to emotional well-being (especially the one you have with yourself)

  • Don’t be afraid of doing something different! Challenging ourselves leads to growth

A Shift Worth Noticing

As more families and professionals relocate to Miami—many from cities like New York—the conversation around mental health is evolving. What was once seen as something reactive is now becoming proactive, intentional, and deeply integrated into everyday life.

The work Annie, Jordyn, and Jordanne are doing reflects that shift. They’re not just supporting individuals—they’re helping shape a healthier, more self-aware Miami.

Because in a city that celebrates ambition and growth, true success starts with how we take care of ourselves.
