Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay Unveils Mural Installation

Miami got a flashy new mural to photobomb! Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay revealed its partnership with Miami contemporary artist Nate Dee, unveiling the outdoor mural, "Natura Sound." The artistic installation showcases the rich flora and fauna of the South Florida landscape and complements the property’s immediate proximity to Biscayne Blvd.

Located on the recently renovated fifth-floor terrace alongside the pool, “Natura Sound,” measures 52 feet wide by 7 feet tall and features a striking blend of vibrant colors and local iconography. Using a skillful combination of spray paint and exterior paint, Nate Dee brings to life the enchanting world of South Florida's biodiversity. The mural showcases an array of natural elements, highlighting the region's iconic flora including native species such as sea grape leaves, water hyacinth and ruppia maritima, as well as fauna, such as an egret, flamingos and a dolphin.

Born and raised in South Florida and of Haitian descent, Nate Dee is a trained artist whose work has been featured in the New York Times and the Miami Times and was selected to be part of Broward’s 100 Mural program. A graduate of Florida International University, Dee’s large-scale murals and other work have been seen throughout Miami-Dade County, including Art Basel, a residency at the EPIC, as well as a mural installation at the FIU dormitories.

"We are thrilled to partner with Nate Dee and unveil 'Natura Sound,' an exceptional mural that captures the essence of South Florida's ecological treasures," said Julissa Kepner, general manager of Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay. "This artistry reflects our deep-rooted connection to the environment and will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on our guests, offering them an opportunity to connect with the region's natural beauty in a truly engaging way.”

Dee shares his enthusiasm for the collaboration stating, "Miami is as diverse as its natural environments with the variety of animals and plant life in this mural touching upon that. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity of placing one of my works at the center of such a lively place.”

The partnership represents Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay's commitment to honoring the local environment and implementing sustainability initiatives within the hotel’s operations. This includes the property’s alignment with Miami-Dade County as a Plastic Free 305 participant - one of few in the downtown area - as well as other building improvements. These include the installation of low-flow plumbing fixtures resulting in 30% indoor water savings; an emphasis on healthy materials verified as low-emissions/non-toxic; the purchasing of Renewable Energy Credits to offset five years of electricity usage; the installation of high-quality LED, to name a few. These investments were included as part of their recently completed renovation overhaul, which was completed in February 2023.
