Where Luxury Meets Inclusivity: Inside Miami’s Thriving LGBTQ+ Business and Hospitality Scene

In a destination defined by its effortless glamour, cultural richness, and ever-evolving skyline, Miami has long held its place as a global beacon for luxury travel. Yet beyond the pristine beaches and design-forward hotels lies something more enduring: a deep commitment to inclusivity that is helping shape the next era of elevated travel. At the center of this movement is the Miami-Dade LGBTQ+ & Allied Chamber of Commerce (MDGLCC) (www.mdglcc.com) —an organization quietly but powerfully redefining what it means to create a truly welcoming destination for locals and visitors.

With a mission to foster a thriving and unified business community, the MDGLCC represents a network of hundreds of businesses and billions in purchasing power, reinforcing the economic importance of LGBTQ+ inclusion across the region. From small businesses to major hospitality brands, the organization provides resources, networking opportunities, and advocacy that empower its members to grow and succeed. At the center of its impact is a deep understanding that business growth and community connection go hand in hand. Through year-round programming, partnerships, and signature events, the Chamber has created a platform where professionals, entrepreneurs, and cultural leaders can collaborate, connect, and contribute to a more inclusive economy.

“Our work is about creating opportunity at every level—whether that’s helping a small business connect with new clients or ensuring that Miami-Dade continues to attract global travelers who value inclusivity,” said Marty Davis, Board Chair, MDGLCC. “We are proudly building and supporting a business community that reflects the inclusivity and dynamism of this region.”

This philosophy is evident MDGLCC’s Pink Flamingo Hospitality Certification Program, an initiative that is setting a new benchmark for inclusive travel. Designed to equip hospitality professionals with the tools to better serve LGBTQ+ travelers, the program goes beyond traditional service training—offering a nuanced approach to creating environments where guests feel both welcomed, understood and celebrated.

Select properties across Miami-Dade have embraced the certification as part of their broader commitment to elevated guest experiences including Andaz Miami Beach and Carillon Miami Wellness Resort. These certified properties are an example of where design, wellness, and service intersect with a genuine dedication to inclusivity. At these hotels, luxury is not just defined by aesthetics or amenities, but by the ability to create spaces that feel personal, intentional, and affirming.

“The Pink Flamingo Hospitality Certification Program goes beyond raining—it’s about setting a standard for what hospitality should look like in a global destination like Miami,” said Lisette Garcia, Executive Director, MDGLCC. “This is only one example of how our team is continuously working to enhance experiences and to support LGBTQ+ friendly businesses. Our shared goal is to increase revenue and be advocates for small business owners, larger companies and organizations that contribute to the growing economy driven by the LGBTQ+ community.”

For those seeking to explore Miami through a more curated lens, the MDGLCC supports the LGBTQ+ Visitor Center in Miami Beach, a vital hub for both residents and visitors seeking information, resources, and connection. The center serves as a gateway to LGBTQ+ events, businesses, and cultural experiences, reinforcing the region’s reputation as a destination where everyone belongs. This sense of connection is increasingly important, as visitors from near and far are less interested in surface-level itineraries and more drawn to destinations that offer meaning, narrative, and a sense of place. Through its work, the MDGLCC helps ensure that Miami delivers on all three.

While community experiences remain a key focus, the MDGLCC’s impact is equally profound behind the scenes. By supporting a network of entrepreneurs, executives, and creatives, it is helping to shape a business ecosystem that values both innovation and inclusivity. From real estate and finance to hospitality and the arts, this cross-industry collaboration is redefining what success looks like in a modern, global city.

As the MDGLCC looks to the future, the National LGBTQ+ and Allied Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) will be launching its Allied SME Certification, a new initiative designed to recognize and elevate small and medium sized allied businesses that are committed to inclusive economic growth and meaningful engagement with the LGBTQ+ and allied business community.

As part of the initial rollout, MDGLCC has been selected as a pilot affiliate. MDGLCC’s selection reflects its strong track record of engagement across the NGLCC network, consistent leadership in advancing opportunities for its members, and its ability to deliver high impact programming and results at the local level. Its deep and active allied business community makes it an ideal partner to help lead this next phase of certification evolution. Beginning in June, certification will be available to eligible MDGLCC allied member businesses, providing them with a nationally recognized credential that signals their commitment to inclusive business practices and connection to NGLCC’s broader network.
