ree

The Miami HEAT announced today that they have signed center/forward Precious Achiuwa and waived Gabe Madsen. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Achiuwa, who was originally drafted by the HEAT in the first round (20th overall) in the 2020 NBA Draft, appeared in 57 games (10 starts) with the Knicks last season and averaged 6.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 20.5 minutes while shooting 50.2 percent from the field. He scored in double-figures 15 times, including a season-high 26 points against Atlanta on February 12 while also recording eight rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal in the contest. He grabbed double-figure rebounds eight times and posted three double-doubles. He recorded multiple blocks 11 times, including at least three rejections on four occasions and tallied his 200th career block on March 25. Achiuwa registered 10 rebounds, a steal and a block vs. Detroit on December 7, marking his fourth game as a Knick in which he recorded at least 10 rebounds with a steal and a block off the bench, tying Kurt Thomas for the 10th-most such games by a Knicks reserve in team history. Additionally, he has made the postseason in four of his five NBA seasons, appearing in 320 career regular season games (72 starts) with Miami, Toronto and New York.

Achiuwa will wear number 8. Madsen was originally signed by the HEAT on September 11. For Miami HEAT tickets click here.
