Six women in public service, higher education, banking and the arts have been inducted into the Miami-Dade County Women’s Hall of Fame during a special presentation at the County Commission Chambers.

The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners honored Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia, singer and songwriter Gloria Estefan, Jeanette M. Nunez, President of Florida International University and former Florida Lieutenant Governor, and Madeline Pumariega, President of Miami Dade College, for their contributions to the county and its residents.
Created in 2021, the Miami-Dade County Women’s Hall of Fame recognizes women whose work has improved life for women and for all residents and preserves the legacies of those whose impact on the community should not be forgotten.

The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women oversees nominations to the Hall of Fame, reviews candidates and recommends honorees to the Board of County Commissioners, which makes the final selections.
