Miami-Dade Calls for Artists to Design Landmark Garage Artwork at MIA
The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs' Art in Public Places program and the Miami-Dade Aviation Department are inviting artist qualifications for a large-scale garage cladding and screening artwork at Miami International Airport.
The selected artist or artist team will be considered to develop full proposals for a landmark artwork that will span the existing Dolphin and Flamingo Garages and the newly built Ibis Garage at the airport, creating a long-term visual identity for the facility.
Shortlisted artists will receive a proposal stipend and travel allowance to take part in an in-depth concept development phase, working with Art in Public Places staff, aviation officials and the project's architectural and engineering consultants. The commissioned artist will be expected to participate as part of the garages project team for at least four years, while the selected general contractor will fabricate and install the final design.
