Miami-Dade Art in Public Places Announces Major 2025 Public Art Opportunities

Miami-Dade County’s Art in Public Places program has opened significant 2025 calls for artists, seeking proposals for a landmark garage-cladding artwork at Miami International Airport and new public art commissions for the North Bay Village Hall and Safety Complex, with combined budgets of more than $6 million.

Miami Airport Commission

The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, through its Art in Public Places Program and in partnership with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a major public artwork at Miami International Airport (MIA). The project will create a large-scale cladding and screening artwork that spans the existing Dolphin and Flamingo Garages and the newly constructed Ibis Garage, establishing a long-term visual identity for the airport.

The RFQ is open to local, national, and international professional visual artists. The total project budget is $5,750,000, which will support design, fabrication and installation of the selected artwork.

Shortlisted artists will be invited to develop full proposals for unique artwork applications that transform the utilitarian parking structures and engage airport employees, visitors and passers-by in unexpected ways. Each shortlisted artist will receive a proposal stipend and a travel allowance to participate in an in-depth concept development phase in collaboration with Art in Public Places, the Aviation Department, and the project’s architectural and engineering consulting teams.

The selected artist is expected to participate as a member of the garages project team for a period of at least four years. The final design will be fabricated and installed by the project’s general contractor.

The RFQ deadline for the Miami International Airport Dolphin, Flamingo and Ibis Garages project is Monday, September 29, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Interested artists can review full details and apply online through Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places.

North Bay Village Project

On behalf of North Bay Village, Miami-Dade County’s Art in Public Places Program has also released an RFQ for public art commissions at the new North Bay Village Hall and Safety Complex.

This opportunity is open to professional visual artists based in the United States. The project budget is $537,000, supporting commissioned artworks that will be integrated into the Village’s new civic and public safety facilities.

The RFQ deadline for the North Bay Village Hall and Safety Complex project is Monday, September 21, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. U.S.-based professional visual artists can access full guidelines and submit qualifications via the Art in Public Places website.
