This August, Miami Children’s Museum presents a dynamic month of programming featuring can’t-miss signature events like the annual Back to School Bash, the Museum’s Anniversary Celebration and more!

Author Spotlight: Shelly’s Adventures


Join the Miami Children’s Museum for an engaging and inclusive storytime with Kentrell Martin, author of Shelly Goes to the Fiesta from the beloved Shelly’s Adventures series. This special experience blends storytelling with American Sign Language (ASL), creating an interactive moment that celebrates inclusivity and imagination. Children will have the opportunity to learn 10 new ASL signs while following along with the story, a special and meaningful way to introduce young learners to new languages and ways of communicating!

Explore More - Sea & Me 


Miami Children’s Museum invites guests to experience a hands-on adventure into the heart of Florida's wildest ecosystem! Children will become mini wildlife explorers as they use real tools to clean up pretend waterways and get up close and personal with fascinating Everglades animals. From matching animal textures and food to exploring what creatures eat and where they live, this immersive experience blends sensory play with real-life science for an unforgettable educational adventure!

Raising Cane’s Back to School Bash


Join the Miami Children’s Museum for Raising Cane’s Back to School Bash, an exciting weekend celebration to kick off the new year! Families can enjoy interactive activities designed to spark creativity, boost confidence, and encourage learning, all while having fun! Highlights include a school supply raffle, folder decorating, lunchbox recipes from the MiChiMu Cooking Club, and even a real school bus where kids can practice getting on and off for their very first day. It’s the perfect way to get kids and families excited for the school year approaching with memories that will last a lifetime!

Take Care Finale: A Peanuts Goodbye 


Celebrate the final days of the Take Care with Peanuts exhibit with hands-on, meaningful activities that bring Peanuts' messaging of caring for our Earth and the people in your community to life. At the Peanuts Garden Station, kids can plant their own seed in a biodegradable pot, showing how small acts of care can grow into something big and beautiful. They’ll also get to create compliment cards using fun stickers, stamps, and Peanuts-themed designs to share with friends and family. Friendship bracelet-making will serve as a creative symbol of kindness and inclusion, where each child can make a personal promise to help their community grow. Plus, little ones can explore themed sensory bins and join a Peanuts Dance Party to learn classic moves from the Peanuts gang—showing how movement and fun go hand-in-hand with taking care of your body.

Say Yes to Mess 


Get ready for a messy, creative adventure at Miami Children’s Museum! Guests can dive into hands-on slime making, splatter painting, and so much more. Fling paint freely in the outdoor splatter zone and mix up your own slimy creations. It's a day for kids to get bold, get messy, and let their imagination run wild without worrying about cleanup. With walls and floors covered in paper, kids will have the freedom to draw, doodle, and paint wherever they’d like!

Anniversary Glow Party 


In celebration of Miami Children's Museum’s 42nd Anniversary, families are invited to a three-day Glow Party packed with bright fun! Guests can dance under the blacklights at the family-friendly DJ party, where glow sticks light up the room and excitement fills the air. Enjoy neon face painting, hands-on science experiments, and glowing activities designed to spark curiosity and joy. This vibrant celebration is all about community, creativity, and making unforgettable memories with friends and family.

STANDARD MONTHLY PROGRAMMING:


Sensory Friendly Saturday


MiChiMu invites guests to experience free sensory-friendly events on the second Saturday of each month, featuring carefully designed activities, reduced noise, dimmed lighting, and limited attendance to create a comfortable and engaging environment for children with disabilities and their families. This Saturday will feature soothing water-themed activities with sensory play areas that work on motor skills and communication. Sponsored by The Ethel and Harry Reckson Foundation/Michael
