Miami Beach Botanical Garden Presents 'Meditations' the Photographs of Paul Clemence

Miami Beach Botanical Garden is pleased to announce the opening of Meditations featuring the photographs of Paul Clemence. The exhibition opens with a reception on Friday, October 8 and will be available for viewing in the Butterfly Gallery through November 21, 2021.

Inspired by Claude Monet’s masterful ability to capture the atmospheric quality of a place and his groundbreaking compositional experiments, viewers are invited to immerse themselves in the balancing qualities found in a garden. In addition to photos of Maison Claude Monet, in Giverny, France, visitors will also view the gardens of Fondation Beyeler in Basel, Switzerland; New York Botanical Garden; Brazil’s Inhotim Institute; Tidal Basin, Washington, DC; and Miami Beach Botanical Garden.

Paul Clemence is an American-Brazilian visual artist working mainly in photography and video. Educated as an architect, his photography explores the ways we relate to the built and natural environment, creating expressive images that are often informed by unique (and natural) light moments, giving the work a temporal experience character. His artwork has been featured at the Venice Biennale, ArtBasel/Design Miami, Fuori Salone Milan, NYCxDesign, WantedDesign, and in many galleries, film festivals, public exhibitions, and private collections worldwide.

The public is welcome to attend the exhibition opening on October 8, from 6pm-8pm. A “Conversation with the Artist” moderated by Gaspar Saldanha, the Garden’s art chair, will begin at 7pm in the Banyan Room. Please note that the Garden requires masks to be worn in their indoor spaces. To RSVP for the opening visit www.mbgarden.org/events.

Sponsors of this exhibition include: In Plus Inc, City of Miami Beach, Miami-Dade County, and State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture. The opening reception is co-sponsored by D.M. Brut.
