Miami-Based Jewelry Giant Kat Florence Seeks Damages in Defamation Case Against Gemstone Retailer

The Downs Law Group Attorney Jeremy Friedman is representing Miami-based Kat Florence LLC, a company that markets, sells, and distributes fine jewelry in the state of Florida and throughout the world. On August 4, 2022, the Florida Southern District Federal court entered a Default Judgment against Elumeo SE, a German publicly listed company doing business in Florida, on multiple counts of Tortious Interference and Defamation, in a case filed by Kat Florence LLC.
Elumeo SE is a Germany-based manufacturer and electronic retailer of gemstone jewelry. The Company markets products through its online shop and through live television under the Juwelo, Rocks & Co., and AMAYANI brands. Elumeo SE is represented by Justin Sher of Sher Tremonte and Zaharah Markoe of Black, Srebnick, Kornspan & Stumpf.
Elumeo, who did not respond to the Complaint in time, is attempting to get the default overturned and is awaiting a decision from the Court. If the default will not be set aside, it will go to a jury trial on damages only seeking monetary compensation. Currently, the parties are waiting for a trial order to determine when the trial will occur.
