This April, Miami hosted a dynamic lineup of cultural and family-friendly programming across the city. From international cinematic celebrations to interactive holiday gatherings, here is a look back at the month's standout highlights.

43rd Annual Miami Film Festival
The 43rd edition of Miami Dade College's Miami Film Festival returned from April 9 through 19, bringing together emerging and established filmmakers for 11 days of world-class cinema. The festival showcased approximately 160 feature narratives, documentaries, and short films from 45 countries.

Screenings took place across multiple Miami venues, anchored by Opening Night’s presentation of Tuner and the Closing Night film, Power Ballad. The 2026 edition also featured special events, including a 25th-anniversary celebration of The Princess Diaries at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, alongside appearances from industry talents such as Adam Scott, Bob Odenkirk, Danielle Brooks, Lili Reinhart, and Matt Bomer.
Poetry & Pajamas at Pinecrest Gardens
In honor of National Poetry Month, Pinecrest Gardens welcomed O, Miami for "Poetry in Pajamas" on Friday, April 3. The family-friendly evening invited children to dress in their favorite pajamas and take the microphone to share original or published poems with an audience of their peers.

Set under a sparkling crescent moon, the Gardens were transformed with whimsical décor by the interknit. The special event, presented in partnership with the Village of Pinecrest as part of the city’s centennial celebration, also featured lawn games, live performances, and a by-kids-for-kids market.
Megga Egga Celebration at Jungle Island
Over the weekend of April 4 and 5, Jungle Island hosted its popular Megga Egga celebration, offering two days of immersive Easter weekend programming. Families enjoyed a variety of interactive activities, including expansive egg hunts, face painting, and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny.

The celebration also marked the debut of a brand-new live show, SOGNO, The Circus of Spring Wonder, which provided family-friendly adventure included with general admission.
Nu Deco Ensemble at Pinecrest Gardens
On Saturday, April 18, the Nu Deco Ensemble brought a high-energy performance to the Banyan Bowl, the open-air amphitheater at Pinecrest Gardens. The dynamic 21st-century orchestra delivered an innovative set that blended classical music with modern genres.

Guests experienced original compositions and inventive arrangements that pushed the boundaries of traditional orchestral performances, reimagining everything from pop and jazz to electronic and Latin music in one of South Florida’s most unique outdoor settings.
