Memorial Healthcare System’s “One City at a Time” program is in full swing in the City of Miramar. A kickoff event held last month introduced Miramar residents to the free, health-related resources and services available three days a week in the coming months.

The outreach, which includes bringing pediatric and adult mobile health centers to community locations, seeks to improve the health of the uninsured or underinsured, in part, by removing barriers to health and care and making it easier to connect with available resources. It’s all part of Memorial Primary Care’s commitment to proactive health that can prevent or more easily treat chronic conditions before they become a crisis for an individual and his or her family.

“We know that not having easy access to care is one of the social determinants that impact a person’s overall health,” said Vedner Guerrier, Memorial Healthcare System’s chief transformation officer. “That’s why we’ve made the commitment to have our mobile units on-site at community locations to make it easier for people to care for themselves and their families.”
