Mandarin Oriental Opens Second Dubai Hotel in Iconic Wasl Tower

Mandarin Oriental has officially opened Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai, its second property in the city. The new hotel, located within the striking Wasl Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road, blends the brand’s Asian heritage with Dubai’s contemporary character, establishing a new standard for urban luxury.

The property features 259 guestrooms and suites, 224 private residences, and 10 dining venues, all crowned by a rooftop helipad for VIP arrivals. Developed in partnership with Wasl Hospitality, the project introduces a “vertical boulevard” concept that unites hospitality, culture, and commerce in the heart of Downtown Dubai.

Designed by UNStudio and engineered by Werner Sobek, Wasl Tower is recognized for its twisting form and the region’s tallest ceramic façade, integrating sustainable features such as ceramic fins that enhance airflow and energy efficiency. Interiors by London-based G.A Group combine warm tones, custom furnishings, and panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai skyline, complemented by curated regional art.

The hotel’s dining lineup includes Yù & Mì, a modern Chinese bar and restaurant inspired by 1960s Hong Kong; Chitarra, an ode to classic Italian cuisine; and Noia by the Pool, a rooftop Mediterranean venue. Upcoming additions will include Billionaire, Lion in the Sun, Osaka, and Pavyllon Dubai by Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, alongside a Greek rooftop restaurant and the Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop.

Wellness at Mandarin Oriental Downtown spans two floors and features nine treatment rooms, vitality pools, saunas, and a Technogym fitness centre. Outdoor facilities include a 25-metre lap pool, leisure pool, kids’ pool, and landscaped terraces.

For events, the hotel offers over 2,000 square metres of flexible space, including a grand 1,000-square-metre Oriental Ballroom and eight meeting rooms. A Kids’ Club, Hana & Friends, caters to younger guests.

To mark the opening, Mandarin Oriental unveiled its signature fan, created by Emirati artist Zeinab Alhashemi, crafted from camel hide and bronze rods to reflect Dubai’s desert tones and skyline.
