Museums across Europe and the United States are launching a packed schedule of exhibitions in mid June 2026, highlighting national symbols, modern and contemporary masters, and new perspectives on photography and light based art.

In Washington D.C., the National Gallery of Art opens Icon: The US Flag in Art on June 6, exploring how artists have interpreted the American flag. That day also sees the debut of Haring in 3D at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas, along with exhibitions at the Courtauld Gallery in London and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where Van Gogh’s sunflower paintings are presented together as Gogh’s Sunflowers: A Symphony in Blue and Yellow.

On June 11, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk opens Freud, while Tate Modern in London unveils Le Parc: Light. Colour. Action., a survey of Julio Le Parc’s immersive works. The Barbican Art Gallery, also in London, opens a Black Planet: The Art and Culture of Panafrica, examining pan African visual culture through historical and contemporary lenses.

Beginning June 12, photography takes center stage in Oslo and Paris. The Astrup Fearnley Museet opens González, while the Jeu de Paume in Paris launches de Sinéty: A Life and Beauty: Photographs from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection. In London, the Courtauld Gallery adds in Colour to its summer program, continuing the month’s focus on color, experimentation, and cross cultural narratives.
