Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Southeast Florida will host the 15th Annual Move With MADD and MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K on Sunday, April 26, 2026. The event, which serves as the most successful grassroots fundraiser in MADD’s history, aims to raise awareness and funds to end impaired driving.

Event Overview and Impact
The 5K event unites runners, walkers, and supporters to address a significant public safety crisis. According to MADD, drunk driving deaths have increased by 31% over the last decade, with an alcohol-related injury or death occurring every 78 seconds.
Fundraising Success:Â Since its inception in 2011, the event has raised over $4.2 million.
Local Support:Â All proceeds remain in South Florida to fund victim services and prevention education at no cost to the community.
Participation:Â Thousands of athletes, families, and even pets are expected to gather in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Race Details and Programming
The in-person race begins at 7:30 a.m. near Huizenga Plaza. Participants can register as individual runners, walkers, or as part of a team.
Awards:Â Recognition will be given to top fundraisers and teams, as well as age-group awards for 5K finishers.
Activities: Festivities include children’s activities, live musical performances, and educational booths.
Dignitaries:Â The event will be attended by Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony and event founder Heather Geronemus, who established the race after her father was killed by a drunk driver in 2009.
Registration and Sponsorship
Adult registration is $40, while youth registration (ages 5-18) is $35. Virtual participation options are also available for those unable to attend in person. Sponsorship opportunities for the event range from $1,500 to $50,000, with support currently provided by organizations including the Florida Panthers and the Salah Foundation.
