Rosewood Schloss Fuschl Opens in Austria, Blending History and Luxury

Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, located on the shores of Lake Fuschl at the base of the Austrian Alps, has officially opened as a luxury resort. This newly restored 15th-century castle offers guests an intimate experience of Austria’s landscape and cultural heritage, combining historical preservation with sustainable practices.

The property includes 98 furnished guestrooms, 42 suites, and six chalets. It serves as a gateway to Austria’s Salzkammergut region, offering activities such as guided fishing excursions, forest foraging, and local cooking demonstrations. Guests can also enjoy the bespoke Asaya® Spa, rooted in Austrian wellness philosophies, and the Schloss Fuschl See Club, providing direct access to the lake.

Originally constructed in 1461 as a hunting lodge, Schloss Fuschl has hosted notable guests, including film stars and foreign dignitaries. Its transformation into a luxury hotel in 1947 marked a significant chapter, drawing global attention for its beauty. The recent restoration by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts continues this legacy, with designs by G.A Group and Bauer Stahl reflecting the region’s natural surroundings and historical significance.

The resort’s culinary offerings include six food and beverage outlets, with the Schloss Restaurant as its highlight. The menu features regional cuisine and a curated selection of over 1,400 wines. Other dining options include the Seeterrasse for all-day dining, the Schloss Bar for classic cocktails, and the Vinothek and Terrace for Austrian wines and hearty meals.

Wellness amenities at Rosewood Schloss Fuschl include the 1,500-square-meter Asaya Spa, which offers indoor and outdoor infinity pools, saunas, a fitness center, and various bespoke wellness experiences. Guests can also partake in activities such as hot air balloon excursions, guided hikes, and winter tobogganing.

Sustainability is a key focus, with most ingredients and materials sourced within a 100-kilometer radius. The resort features a honeybee colony for local honey production and uses the thermal properties of the lake for heating and cooling, minimizing its environmental footprint.

Rosewood Schloss Fuschl represents a blend of historical preservation, luxury, and sustainable practices, offering guests an immersive experience in the Austrian Alps.
