Lucía Toro: Rebuilding From The Inside Out

My name is Lucía Toro. For most of my career, I designed spaces — I trained as an interior architect, and I spent years thinking in terms of structure: foundations, load-bearing walls, the invisible calculations that keep a building standing long after anyone stops noticing them.

In 2017, a sports accident stopped my life completely. Overnight, I went from designing other people's spaces to having to rebuild my own from nothing. I could no longer rely on the plans I knew. I had to learn, slowly and often painfully, how to face uncertainty, pain and stillness in a way I never had before.

That period became the foundation — quite literally — of everything I do now. I trained as a Coach at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Málaga, Spain, and began to translate what I had lived through into a language I already knew: architecture. I realized that just as a building needs solid foundations to withstand storms, a person needs an inner structure to withstand adversity. The events we face are often inevitable; what we can rebuild is our attitude, our resilience, and the way we choose to grow through them.

That realization became the heart of my book, From Stress to Self-BEING, a practical manual for self-help and personal growth. It isn't a theoretical text — it's a hands-on guide, written from lived experience, for anyone who has felt their own foundations shake and is looking for a way to rebuild, stone by stone.

Today, I work as a speaker and coach, helping others recognize that stress and crisis, however unwelcome, can become the starting point of a stronger, more honest architecture of the self. Everything I share comes from the belief that we are, each of us, both the architects and the builders of who we become.
