Lowe's Opens Nominations for $10 Million in Community Improvement Grants

Lowe's has announced the opening of nominations for its Lowe's Hometowns program, a key part of its five-year, $100 million commitment to revitalizing community spaces across the U.S. This year, the company will award $10 million to fund 100 major renovation projects and support an additional 1,700 community improvement initiatives led by its employees.

Communities nationwide are encouraged to nominate projects that could benefit from Lowe's support, including spaces such as nonprofit facilities, veteran and first responder centers, community centers, parks, and more.

Nominations are open through February 18, 2025, at Lowes.com/Hometowns.

Since its launch in 2022, Lowe's Hometowns has supported projects expected to benefit over 3 million people. In 2024 alone, more than 500,000 individuals were impacted through initiatives like expanding safe housing for veterans in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, upgrading a volunteer fire department's facilities in Scotland, Connecticut, and enhancing a foster care transition center in LaFollette, Tennessee.

“Helping our neighbors and communities is what Lowe's does best,” said Marvin Ellison, Lowe's Chairman and CEO. “Over the last three years, Lowe's Hometowns has inspired thousands of projects nationwide, driven by our associates' problem-solving skills and dedication. I'm excited to see the positive changes we'll create in 2025.”

Lowe's Hometowns leverages the expertise of its red vest associates, a network of professional contractors, and a broad product selection to improve spaces that serve as community hubs. The program is supported by Points of Light, a nonprofit organization specializing in volunteer mobilization.

“Communities have urgent needs for investments and volunteers nationwide,” said Jennifer Sirangelo, President and CEO of Points of Light. “Lowe's empowers local projects through grants and employee volunteerism, helping turn community visions into reality.”

  • Community resources (senior centers, first responder facilities, food pantries, youth clubs)

  • Outdoor spaces (parks, gardens, playgrounds)
