Louis Vuitton Debuts Kubic Armchair at Paris Design Week 2026
Louis Vuitton has expanded its Pierre Legrain Homage Collection with the introduction of the Kubic Armchair, unveiled during Paris Design Week 2026 as part of the Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades collection. The new piece was exhibited alongside a full range of new Objets Nomades creations at the Hôtel Particulier Louis Vuitton on rue de Martignac from September 10 through September 13, 2026. First revealed at Palazzo Serbelloni during Milan Design Week 2026, the expanding collection continues a dialogue between historical archive designs and contemporary furniture making.
The Pierre Legrain Homage Collection forms part of ongoing celebrations marking the centenary of the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris. Legrain, an artistic collaborator of the House during the 1920s under the direction of Gaston-Louis Vuitton, created the company's first standalone furniture design: the Louis Vuitton Dressing Table. The tribute collection revisits Legrain’s work as a decorator, illustrator, bookbinder, and cabinet-maker through geometric constructions, specialized materials, and traditional leatherworking.
The centerpiece of the Paris presentation, the Kubic Armchair, reinterprets an Art Deco and Cubist-influenced 1923 model originally conceived by Legrain for collector Jacques Doucet. Defined by a cubic framework, a trapezoidal backrest, and faceted armrests upholstered in signature Louis Vuitton Nomade leather, the chair incorporates rosewood side legs that highlight the brand's cabinet-making craftsmanship. The construction combines high-precision joinery with traditional leather-wrapping techniques.
The exhibition at the Hôtel Particulier framed the Kubic Armchair alongside archival pieces by Charlotte Perriand and Fortunato Depero, as well as modern Objets Nomades contributions from Estudio Campana, Raw Edges, and Franck Genser. The display reinforces Louis Vuitton’s broader expansion into home furnishings, following the official launch of its comprehensive Home Collections sector comprising furniture, lighting, home textiles, decor, tableware, and gaming items.
