Lotus House, the nation's largest women's homeless shelter, raised $1 million at its 16th annual "Sparkles and Costumes" gala on Oct. 29. Held at The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse in Wynwood, the event gathered Miami community leaders to support the organization's mission to end and prevent homelessness.

Honorees and Notable Guests

Supermodels and Lotus Endowment Board members Gisele Bündchen and Karlie Kloss were honored with the It Takes a Village Award for their ongoing philanthropic leadership. Additional notable guests and award recipients included Lotus House Board Members Seth Cassel and Rachna Bhasin, who received the Community Impact Award, and Lotus House alum Za'Niyah Huffman, who was presented with the Youth Volunteer Award. Lotus House Founder Constance Collins also addressed the attendees, and the late Libby Klein was honored in memoriam with the Legacy of Love Award.

Community Impact

Proceeds from the evening will advance operations for Lotus House, the National Women’s Shelter Network, and the recently opened 71,000-square-foot Children’s Village in Overtown. Since 2006, Lotus House has provided shelter and support to over 13,500 women, youth, and children, currently housing more than 520 individuals nightly with an 86% successful exit rate.
