It may not sound like much to us, but dolphins’ whistles and clicks are a complex form of communication. How can we translate this dolphin “language” into something humans can understand? Join us at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4 for LIVE@Frost Science: Deciphering Dolphin Conservations to learn how Wild Dolphin Project Founder and Research Director, Dr. Denise Herzing, is using artificial intelligence to decode what dolphins are saying.
Dolphins have large brains, complicated societies, and a repertoire of sounds and body postures. After 40 years observing and studying wild Atlantic spotted dolphins underwater, Dr. Herzing and her team have gained a basic understanding of their communication signals. Now, they are using machine learning tools to reveal the order and structure in dolphin interactions, with the potential to uncover language. Join us to explore this exciting fusion of marine biology and artificial intelligence and learn more about the Wild Dolphin Project.
Admission is complimentary. Tickets are limited to four per transaction. Program will take place inside the Frost Planetarium.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Program starts promptly at 7:00 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served. Food and beverage will be available for purchase prior to the event.
Please note registration to the event does not include museum admission. Museum exhibitions close at 6:00 p.m.
