Lincoln Road Bid Announces Open Call to Artists to Create a Large-Scale Public Art Installation

The Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (LRBID) is thrilled to announce an open call to artists to submit proposals for temporary, large-scale artwork to be displayed along Lincoln Road as part of its public art program, Art on Lincoln: Sculpture, Installations and More. This initiative will award one artist the unique and exclusive opportunity to showcase their work to over 10 million visitors, all while contributing to South Florida’s dynamic artistic landscape.

Lincoln Road has become a hub for large-scale public art, showcasing numerous world-renowned artists over the years. Highlights include Fernando Botero’s bronze sculptures that captivated visitors in 2019 and Richard Orlinski’s electrifying pieces in 2022, followed by notable installations by Daniel Anderson and Rubem Robierb during Miami Art Week 2024. Marco Cochrane’s R-Evolution, a striking 45-foot-tall sculpture celebrating feminine strength and self-expression also turned heads during its tenure on the promenade from 2023-24. Most recently, Gillie and Marc’s “Go Wild for the Wild” exhibition further cemented Lincoln Road’s cultural reputation. This open call invites a new wave of artists to contribute to the district’s growing artistic legacy.

One selected artist will receive funding of up to $75,000 to design, deliver and install temporary public artwork for exhibition on Lincoln Road through Spring 2026. The installation will be prominently featured across the LRBID’s communication channels, including its official website, social media, and public relations and marketing efforts.

“We’ve had the privilege of showcasing works by some of the world’s most celebrated artists, and we’re excited to welcome new talent to leave their mark on Lincoln Road,” said Lyle Stern, president of the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District. “This is just the beginning – our vision includes even more immersive art experiences and cultural programming that will continue to engage and inspire visitors for years to come.”

Scope of Work

Artists are invited to propose a large-scale installation that reflects the energy, diversity and artistic spirit of Lincoln Road. Proposals should include comprehensive design details, hardware and installation plans, and any necessary shop drawings for approval by the appropriate permitting authorities. The selected artist must also provide a maintenance plan outlining care and upkeep throughout the exhibition period.

Selection Process

A panel of executive board members from the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District will review submissions and select a single winning proposal based on creativity, feasibility and alignment with Lincoln Road’s cultural vision.

Submission Details

Artists interested in applying can find the full proposal guidelines and application form at lincolnroad.com/open-call-to-artists. The deadline for submissions is June 18, 2025.
