With a platinum plaque, a Kesha collab, and a brand-new anthem, Leah Kate is turning emotional chaos into main character moments, one unhinged track at a time.
Platinum-certified pop provocateur Leah Kate is carving her own lane in the music world, one messy, magnetic anthem at a time. With over 350 million global streams and a breakout hit that took over TikTok and Top 40 radio, she’s become a go-to voice for emotional release and empowered chaos. Her latest single, “Dead Sexy Body,” released in early July, leans all the way into that identity. With cinematic production and a sultry, biting delivery, it captures the exact moment heartbreak turns into high-gloss revenge.
Leah’s music walks the line between vulnerability and bravado, turning late-night breakdowns, romantic disasters, and fierce self-awareness into pop bangers that hit hard and stay stuck in your head. Beyond her solo success, she’s also a sought-after collaborator—recently co-writing Kesha’s fiery new single “ATTENTION!” and bringing her chaotic-genius energy to stages around the world, from Lollapalooza to Wireless Festival. Whether she’s owning the stage or crying in the club (in style), Leah is the definition of a main character, and her sound reflects every unfiltered mood.
In this exclusive interview with Miami Living, Leah opens up about the inspiration behind “Dead Sexy Body,” the magic of working with Kesha, and why her music pairs perfectly with neon lights, bad decisions, and bold lipstick. From fashion to vulnerability to delusional confidence, she’s here to remind us all that it’s okay to spiral every now and then.
“Dead Sexy Body” feels like such a confident, cinematic anthem. What inspired the song, and what was going through your mind while writing it?
Leah Kate: That song is literally me walking into the room like I’m the main character in an early 2000s movie. I wanted to make something that felt hot, chaotic, and a little unhinged in the best way. It’s kind of about reclaiming your confidence after being completely destroyed — like, “Yeah, I’m spiraling, but I look amazing doing it.” It’s sexy, dramatic, a little toxic — very on brand for me.
You recently collaborated with Kesha on her single “ATTENTION!”, which is a huge moment. What was it like writing with her, and how did that creative chemistry come together?
Leah Kate: Writing with Kesha was such a full circle moment for me — she’s always been a huge inspiration. She walked into the room with so much fire and freedom, and we just immediately clicked. There was no filter — it was loud, it was emotional, it was real. We wrote “ATTENTION!” in this super raw, fearless way. It actually came together because she called my producer while we were together, and he said he was with me, and she said, “Can I pull up?” And when she got to the studio, she was like, “Soooo, let’s write a song together?” It was insane.
“10 Things I Hate About You” blew up on TikTok and radio. What was that viral success like, and how has it changed your relationship with your music?
Leah Kate: It was surreal. I’ll never forget after I wrote it. I did go home after writing it and played it for my parents and said, “Omg, I think this is a smash hit.” I just had that gut feeling. Watching it explode on TikTok and hearing it on the radio was so validating. It made me trust my instincts way more. Like — maybe being delusional is the move.
You’ve toured with some massive names like Madison Beer and Hayley Kiyoko. Any standout memories from the road that helped shape you as a performer?
Leah Kate: The Madison Beer tour was such a special one for me. Madison was so supportive and called me into her dressing room every night to debrief the shows, chat, and hang. She was a real one, and I loved opening for her so much.

Fashion and visuals play a huge role in your brand. How does your personal style tie into the stories you’re telling through music?
Leah Kate: My music is dramatic, unfiltered, and a little unhinged — and so is my wardrobe. I like to say my aesthetic is hot girl spiraling in style. I’ll wear a lace corset while crying on the dance floor. I love blending soft with savage — like, a girly pink dress with combat boots, or glossy lips while I’m singing about revenge. Everything is a contradiction, and I lean into that.
With over 350 million streams and chart-topping singles, how do you stay grounded creatively? What keeps you inspired between projects?
Leah Kate: Spiraling helps. Kidding. (Kind of.) Honestly, I stay inspired by living. Messy nights, intense crushes, emotional breakdowns in Ubers — that’s where the songs come from. I also write all the time. Even if it’s just a random phrase in my Notes app, I treat it like a diary. The music always catches up with the chaos eventually.
What does the future hold for you and your music? Is there anything specific fans should be looking forward to?
Leah Kate: YES. I’m about to drop my sophomore album soon, which is probably the most me thing I’ve ever made. It’s funny, messy, emotional, chaotic — all the moods in one place. I’m also working on more shows, more visuals, and some very unhinged merch. Stay tuned because the spiral is just beginning.
As a rising voice in pop with a strong, unapologetic message, what do you hope your listeners, especially young women, take away from your music?
Leah Kate: I want girls to feel like they can be everything at once. You can cry and still look hot. You can spiral and still be a genius. You don’t have to have it all together to be worthy or powerful or iconic. My music is about turning your mess into something that slaps. That’s what I hope people take away from it — your breakdown can be your breakthrough.

Miami is all about bold style and high energy. How do you feel your music resonates specifically with fans in the city?
Leah Kate: Miami is such a vibe — it’s loud, bold, unapologetic, and kinda chaotic in the best way. That’s literally my music. It’s the soundtrack to making bad decisions in good outfits. If you’re dancing through your heartbreak under neon lights with your best friends hyping you up — that’s a Leah Kate moment.
If you were to take a dream vacation to Miami, what would your bucket list look like?
Leah Kate: I’d hit the beach in full glam — red lip, tiny bikini, dramatic sunglasses. Ocean Drive for some cocktails. Neon lights, late-night dancing, and probably crying in a club bathroom at some point (but make it fashionable). Definitely blasting my own songs in the Uber and pretending it’s a music video. Classic delusion-core.
