Las Olas Oceanside Park and Convoy of Hope to Host Hurricane Supply Drive to Benefit Those Impacted by Hurricane Helene
Building on the success of the October 2022 drive for those impacted by Hurricane Ian, which saw the generous support of the community fill a 24' box truck, organizers of The MKT at Las Olas Oceanside Park are stepping up once again to help those in need.
Partnering with Convoy of Hope, The MKT will act as a drop-off location for supplies to benefit those impacted by Hurricane Helene. The supplies will be collected at The LOOP's weekend markets on Saturday, Oct. 5, Sunday, Oct. 6, Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
The LOOP also seeks volunteers to help sort the supplies and pack boxes daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The donated supplies will be transported by Convoy of Hope, a faith-based, nonprofit organization with a driving passion for feeding the world through children's feeding initiatives, community outreaches and disaster response, to those most in need in the devastated parts of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Presently, the Convoy of Hope is on the ground in Perry, Florida, distributing much-needed relief supplies to local and surrounding county residents. To date, more than 1,500 families have received water, groceries, and hygiene supplies.
Items accepted at The LOOP include the following:
Shelf stable, ready-to-eat, and canned items that are not expired: Peanut Butter; Canned Proteins (Chicken, Tuna); Canned Fruit, Vegetables, Soups; Baby Food and Formula; Cereal, Snacks and Crackers; Protein Bars and Breakfast Bars.
