La Dolorosa, a Fully Staged Production on September 10, 11 and October 16, 2022
La Zarzuela, Inc. presents a fully staged production of the zarzuela La Dolorosa (1930). The work, with original libretto by J.J. Lorente and music by José Serrano, has been adapted for modern audiences by Jorge Arcila and Daniel Daroca. The new version features two new romanzas by Daniel Daroca, the participation of the 5Plus vocal ensemble, and cinematographic and virtual elements created by Jacqueline Solórzano. This production is dedicated to the ProArte Grateli- organization that pioneered and kept alive the art of the zarzuela in Miami for almost half a century- in commemoration of its premiere of La Dolorosa over fifty years ago.
