Kushaan Launches The Bedouin Collection of Textiles

Kate Keenan, owner and creative director of Kushaan textiles, creates an exciting new collection of exotic, hand woven fabrics and cushions inspired by the cultures of different corners of the world. Kushaan textiles collections celebrate the specialties of global artisans and their long honored traditions of craftsmanship.

The Anatolian Stripe - Anatolian Stripe has the feeling of an antique textile discovered in a market in Istanbul, produced in 7 rich, saturated colorways. The design process was one of those wonderful creative moments, a happy accident, where during the process of creating a texture layer for another design, the Anatolian Stripe emerged.

Berber - Inspired by the fine tattoo art of the nomadic Berber tribes of North Africa, this design was a joy to work on as the different elements came to life unified into one design.

Bukhara - Based on a stunning handwoven silk ikat found in a market in Uzbekistan. One that sold out almost immediately and try as we might, could not be re-sourced or replaced. Creating Bukhara in versatile linen and wallpaper has been a dream come true.

Bukhara Painted - A modern take on the Bukhara original. Handpainted to create a textured appearance and emulate the perfect imperfections of a handwoven ikat.

Tribal - The seed of inspiration for this design came from an 19th C saddlebag woven by the Shahsevan tribe of Northwest Persia. During the creative process, Tribal had many iterations as it journeyed from a traditional textile filled with dark colors to this modern, fresh hand painted design.

Suradevi - Named in honour of an iconic Indian Princess, this pretty, swirling floral was inspired by a favourite embroidered suzani. Hand painted to create an aged patina that sits beautifully on it’s Belgium linen ground. Matching wallpaper available in all colorways.
