Kickstarter partnered with SCOPE Art Show during Art Basel Miami Beach to present a two-day panel series that examined creative independence, alternative funding models, and the intersection of art, music, and community. The discussions took place December 4–5 at SCOPE’s Ocean Drive location and drew artists, curators, musicians, and cultural leaders into focused conversations on how creative ecosystems are evolving.

Across both days, the panels featured Miami-based voices alongside nationally recognized creators, including Rosie Gordon-Wallace, Veronica Pesantes, Beatriz Chachamovits, Cool & Dre, Hebru Brantley, Carlos King, and Larry Ossei-Mensah, cofounder of ARTNOIR. A central moment of the program was a fireside chat between Kickstarter CEO Everette Taylor and Ossei-Mensah, which explored how platforms and patrons are reshaping cultural leadership.

Thursday’s programming opened with Power to the Creators – Rethinking How Art Gets Funded, where panelists discussed crowdfunding, patronage, and community-backed models as alternatives to traditional institutional support. Later, The Art of Sound – Where Music Meets Canvas brought together music executive Steve Lobel and artist-musician Cristy Road Carrera, moderated by Jesse Kirshbaum, to examine collaboration across sonic and visual storytelling.
Friday continued with a conversation between Taylor and Ossei-Mensah on The Role of the Patron and the Platform, followed by The Art of Community – Building Creative Ecosystems That Last. Moderated by Pesantes, the final panel focused on how grassroots networks and digital communities sustain long-term cultural growth.
The programming concluded with Kickstarter’s annual Friday night gathering at The Standard Hotel on Belle Isle. The event featured drinks from Gran Coramino Tequila, music by DJ Dylan Ali, and a live performance by Miami musician Muzelle, bringing together panelists and guests to close out the week.
